Bako really hates it's sales team

Word is starting to spread about their non-competitive base salary 70-75K and comp plans that are equal to entry level positions in the diagnostic space. You're told the job brings you 200k with uncapped commissions but as soon as you get a taste of the MBO's that deduct from your pay and the quarterly compensation you quickly realize $200k, even $150k is a pipe dream for most since you're expect to grow new and existing territories at the same 20%-25% per quarter in this market.

Under Christ Smith's leadership they continue to chase out all the good talent and get cozy with those they feel will be servants to their agenda and agree with the poor leadership, not question them and ultimately kiss their a$$es.

The last two management promotions as well as the director of sales took no increase in salary upon agreeing to the promotion. Stupid as that sounds that is the only way you move up at the company. But, this is only for the sales team. Every other department in the organization promotes from within and provides adequate bumps in compensation. Bako has more VPs than qualified sales reps. Now that these 3 took promotions without salary increases Chris Smith feels this is just fine with doing it to everyone else.

But, if Chris feels you're a qualified a$$ kisser he will do anything to compensate you. One of the recent sales reps who left were offered a $100k base salary to stay. This should upset the recently promoted sales manager who is making around 75K base. Another rep in the east hasn't hit quota all year, but since they feel this person is very qualified they have given this rep $5k - $10k each quarter so the rep wouldn't leave and yet there are other reps in the US busting their a$$es and yet barely will make $2k-$5k with no additional relief because Chris Smith thinks 90% of his sales team is trash.

I was, with the rest of the team, told the day before the holiday that we were all receiving a $10k base increase starting in 2023. Awesome!!!!! Er... Right?!? Following that my manager told me that the max ceiling on quarterly compensation would be decreased from $20k to $15k.

In simple math I am starting tomorrow guaranteed to make $10k less in 2023. I guess the multiple idiots running this circus think we will be even further motivated with higher base but less incentivized commission. Hmmmm more Chris Smith brilliance on display here. 2023 will continue the downfall of this place with unmotivated sales team looking to go elsewhere.

Happy New Year!!!!!

One of the managers recently told several of their account managers that Chris Smith (COO), John Johnson (Dir of Sales) and company employ a sliding scale on quarterly targets. If you are a rep they like, they will slide that bar on the lower end giving you an easier time to hit 100% of your goals. If you are regarded as someone whose keeping a chair warm until something better comes along they slide it the other way and hence why currently there are several reps barely hitting 70%. In years past everyone has been assuming this was the case but now 100% confirmation has come down from management and this can only stop by us all leaving because we know the crap floating at the top of this company are not going anywhere.

I am looking for a new job when I learned that people hired over the past 6 months were given higher base salaries than those of us that have been here one year or more. This is place is flipping dysfunctional it makes Vikor look like a stabile organization.
