Background Check

The University is saying I didn't graduate when I did. I faxed a copy of my degree & that isn't good enough. Background company & InVentiv are saying I need to take it up with college. Registrars office is being very difficult. What do I do? Has anyone else been in this situation before?

Never heard of that before. How can they say you didn't graduate if you have a diploma and transcript?

If the university causes you to lose the job you can sue and you will win. The same thing happend to someone I know. They sured and ended up getting like 5 years salary plus the cost of their tuition back.

The college is saying I didn't graduate but attended & the company is saying they can't take sides even though I have my diploma & transcripts. I was told with ventiv that I need to take it up with the college & get back to them. Any suggestions?

The problem with the diploma is that they are fairly easy to fake - but the transcripts should be helpful - do your transcripts say "Degree awarded" or anything about you graduating with a degree on them anywhere? If they don't that's most likely the problem. I would personally go to the school (hopefully it's not crazy far from you) and ensure that they have your records correct. Most of the time the background check agency doesn't talk directly to the school, so it may also help to get the name of someone directly at the university that is willing to verify and fax over updated informaiton.

All transcripts have the date you were awarded the degree on the bottom of the form. Also, when you order a transcript to be sent to yourself or anyone else, they are notorized and have an official seal for authenticity. For future jobs you should have a copy of your transcript sent to yourself if you haven't already so you can see what it says. Something doesn't sound right with this-theregistrar should be able to resolve this for you unless you have something to hide and are trying to get away with something.

Did you ever get this resolved? If so, how did you do it?

Call the admissions office and request and demand to speak to someone (director of department of admissions and records) and let them know you have hired an attorney and that will change everything.

I did call the head of the registar's office. I told her the entire story and she said she didn't care and that I should go fuck myself! Looks like I will never be able to work where a degree is required!
