This is the kind of business deal that is good for customers.

Lilly should merge, too, so that patients would benefit.

We have to think about patients, first and foremost.

Read the fine print: the deal will pay for itself through cost reductions (layoffs) in the amount of $3 billion per year.

But wait! Lilly can layoff even without benefiting the customer (the patient).

What is wrong with this picture?

Lilly should do the American way, merge, cut costs where they are most expensive, in the upper management.
