Astellas Primary Care or Technology Sales

What would you do based on your experience? Given an opportunity to leave Astellas primary care for a position in technology sales, would you? I am likely to be laid off from my current position at another pharmacecutical company due to upcoming cuts. I have an opportunity to join Astellas Primary Care or another company selling technology. Lower base, but decent bonus opportunity. After 9 years in the industry, it seems like this could be a backwards move. I've seen all the negative feedback on this board that is consistent with many of the other company boards. Really, I'd just like honest feedback from the trenches if possible. Thanks in advance...

Honestly, is the grass ever greener? or AS green? What do you see down the road for pharma? Does it look optimistic? Now imagine what all companies are doing....scrambling, trying to reinvent the wheel, etc. Well multiply that by 10, especially in certain regions, eg, SE, and that is what you will get.

Run Forest Run!

OP here...

Pretty clear that it is time to move on. I am taking classes and thinking about doing a complete career change as well. In the meantime, pharma sales, especially primary care, appears to be a thing of the past for me.

Wow, I surely wouldn't make a career change based on CafePharma posts. I believe that most people on this board are (1) job seekers, (2) unhappy and looking for validation or (3) wanting some sort of more evidence about a "displacement" rumor mill. Happy people don't "need" and don't make the time for CafePharma.

I'd say go for the technology sales. The whole pharma industry is the same, no matter what company you work for. Just because Astellas isn't laying off doesn't mean there is any more opportunity. If you have an opp to make more money, and expand your resume to something other then pharma, I say go for it. I just left Astellas after 6 years for another industry and couldn't be happier.
