To the original post. I am not motivated to act on these requests either.
Why? Well - the truth we all know is that the US healthcare system is subsidizing the world. Other countries either set the price directly or have a price point now on the order of 10% of the US price. So, it means that American's pay to cover the costs for the world. It's just the mathematical truth.
There was a time when I was extremely responsive to these requests (actually visiting my congressman in his offices) ---- one of my central arguments was the jobs the industry created in our country and communities.
Now, Merck sneers on the people from US communities. We only offer opportunity to the privileged and in great frequency to transnationals who have no loyalties to any country, especially the US. We also seek to showcase diversity - but there is no place for that diversity to include working class people anymore.
So - No. I'm not going to ask my fellow citizens to support the status quo. Status quo was fine when it included a committment to American workers.
