Area Manager problems

I have been recently promoted to AM, and am finding it hard to encourage under performing locations to shape-up. They always blame past transgressions against referral sources as reasons for NOT getting the business.
Why cannot these locations just start from scratch, and Stop blaming their predecessors?
Furthermore, no amount of reports and spreadsheets seem to help. They only make matters worse.
Any suggestions?

You have been given a big task as AM. You can use bullying tactics and intimidation to achieve wanted effects. These technics has proven results. Your role model should be a hdeous despot.
Never have guilt about your actions and never look back. There are several you may seek consultation.

As to those effects, I am well qualified. Probably better given my ongoing grudge match I've had to live with all my adult life.

It was just an expression. It mearly means to suck it up and take charge. You are the AM so take charge . If you perfer than put on your big girl panties and make it happen.

She is just having a bit of a problem adjusting to life outside of W PA. BUT with Denise at her side...she will do just as good as any other, maybe even better?

Maybe it's just a bit of "nerves" on her part for having to go it alone or maybe a bit of nerves b/c she needs to work for a change.

Make the Big R proud and show them how it's done!

Well the offices have been burned so many times they don't want to trust the location again. Put your reputation on the line and make calls with the sales rep At some point they stop believing the sales rep can make a difference.

I am not a Rotech AM fan. I find most got the job because the smart LCM stay away from the position . There usually have a clinical background with little to no leadership skills. No knowledge of operations or marketing. They generally leave the locations to sink or swim on there own. There always available for empty criticism and to point out your short comings. In most cases they couldn't help even if they wanted to. No job knowledge at all. If they ever come up with any assistance they called one of there subordinate LCM for help. Rotech has always had a huge problem with middle management. To many on the payroll, not enough knowledge to be usefull. There good about relaying info from there Div or RM conference call but offer no assistance or resolutions .

All very good points and to bad they are all true with some of the AM's. Plus, all you ever hear is how many emails they get. I guess it's a good thing they are busy with them instead of creating even more chaos in someof their location/s they are in charge of

Another unscheduled Corporate meeting. These are never good.

I hear that since Carter is stepping down, they are considering Mark Zuckerberg from facebook as his replacement. Should be a dramatic climb in the stock price if this happens.........at least for a couple days. Zuckerberg would be a good fit since he is also being forced out of his position and needs to save face.

Blotech closed at 0.56 today, any buyers?

Or we can wait for the close out sale LOL! There is an article out ca. the 10th of this month stating S&p downgraded Rotech again and see a default on the horizon. Something along those lines....go to Yahoo and anyone can pick the link up there or direct at Reuters for the real content.
