Has Valeant confirmed that Rochester will not see anymore layoffs (other than the 100 layoffs already planned for December 2013) in 2013-2014?
Chucky Schumer got the guarantee. Did everyone else (management, employees) also get this guarantee from Valeant?
If Valeant makes another acquisition and makes it to add new products and find synergies between the two merging organizations then probably the guarantee becomes null and void. However if there is no new additional acquisition does Valeant have to honor this agreement?
Can Valeant make the quiet layoffs. Take out 10 employees a month (well under the radar of the reporting of cutbacks from the Democrat and Chronicle) and still be considered to be honoring the no layoff agreement?
What about forced movement of jobs to NJ? Are those considered layoffs or just job transfers to NJ? If there truly are no layoffs could there be dramatic changes to the existing employees job descriptions and it not be considered a layoff. For example move a research chemist to contact lens assembly manufacturing or a former development manager to quality or regulatory?
Seems like there will be many changes in the organizational charts, employee salaries, job descriptions, titles, benefits etc. regardless of the no layoff guarantee provided be Valeant.
