Are Publicis Fanatics at Rep Micromanagement?

Interviewing for a position (sales rep) with Publicis. I have known a few Publicis reps through the years and all of them said micromanagement from Publicis DM's was horrible. They said it seemed like the DM was in the car every time they cranked it up. Now I see on here that Pfizer DM's are also riding with Publicis reps!! Is it really that bad at Publicis?

On our last contract our Publicis manager was with us every 2-3 weeks. It was a tremendous waste of time, energy and money. We wasted time going to the airport to pick him up and drop him off, a huge waste of resources when it came to airline fares and hotel expenses, and everyone had to cancel appointments and rearrange their schedules to accomodate a ride along. This was a very, very inefficient way of managing, but it appears to be the only way Publicis knows how to do things- just like old school baby sitting.

Yes every Publicis contract is like this. DMs don’t have enough to do so they have to show that they are ‘working’. If it’s not a stupid last minute 2 hour conference call about something that was already discussed then it’s the bi monthly ride alongs.

EVERY 2-3 WEEKS! YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING! Are you saying this is TYPICAL at Publicis and not the exception????????? WTF?? Why does a DM need to ride with the same damn rep every 2 to 3 weeks??? IT'S INSANITY!

The way I see it, micromanagement only becomes a problem if the rep is not doing what he or she is paid by the company to do. So what's the big deal?

Riding with someone that often would only be necessary if they were on a performance plan. A ride a long that often is a huge waste of resources.
