Applying for ES role in Tempe AZ

Hey guys, first, I must say, you guys are highly entertaining on your cafe pharma posts. Way more excitement happening over here than in the other boards.

All that to say that I saw a posting for an ES in Tempe, AZ and I wanted to know if anyone had experience with this region that could give me a behind the scenes look at the team there. Is there a good opportunity to make money with the reps currently there? Any idea of average margins in the area? What’s the branch manager like?

I should preface that I am from the Midwest but my family and I are looking to move to a warmer climate so I’m exploring all options. Currently I am an ES for another distributor but I don’t want to give more detail than that just in case anyone from my company lurks over here.

For starters there kind of isn’t a manager in AZ right now. The sales manager is moving to a service manager role so hey if you want to apply for the manager role instead. The team is semi solid there’s a couple of really good reps that have good numbers but one of them is up CFCs bottom and creates a lot of drama in the team and texts CFC when she doesn’t get her way. I hope your ready to get frantic calls and texts at 10pm for everything because she’s wacky but she sells a lot so everyone kind of looks the other way with her she’s like a necessary evil but we’d actually be better without her but no one has the balls to do anything about it so she just gets worse and worse. Service team is great so you have great backup for installs if the wacky rep I told you about doesn’t get them fired first because she’s kinda known for that and before I forget and her husband will be doing all her service work even though he doesn’t work for Benco anymore. It’s a great big conflict of interest but again she has a direct line to CFC so nothing has been done about that and never will be if you catch my drift. I hope I didn’t scare you off because really the rest of the team is great but the equipment margins are kinda crap and commission has been gutted so if you want to make even close to 100 thousand you’ll need to sell well over 3 mill and I don’t think there’s ever been a ES in history of Arizona branch to have done that at Benco.

Don’t do it. Do some research and contact former Benco ES’s on linkedin and ask them for their opinion on the job. Most of the heavy hitters went to other distributors for very specific reasons that you might want to think about.

You, my friend have just summed up the problem with Benco perfectly. This situation runs rampant in the entire organization and there is nothing the manager can do about it because the inmates run the asylum here. Until Chuck allows managers to do their job and clean house this company will run on disfunction and continue to lose.

You got that right buddy boy. I’m one of dem der inmates. It’s pure entertainment to drive my manager crazy. I proudly ran off at least 6 managers in my day and my ES hates me. But Benco keeps paying me sooooooooo. Who’s the dummy now??

We the reps make the most money for this company and to be good at the TR role you have to be selfish AF and constantly look out for yourself so that’s why we run this place. Managers come and go, it’s a revolving door and honestly a chimpanzee could do the RM job but not many can make it as a TR. That said there a a few toxic TRs out there who have a reputation for their inability to even be a good human being and I’d like to see them depart this company but again, they are money makers so they won’t go anywhere. Best thing you can do is work hard and keep your head down and stay out of the team drama and suffer through your RM until they quit or get fired.

No need to be calling out Matt like that...

It’s a difficult market. Everybody is fighting for their piece of a small pie.
