Anyone Happy To Be Gone?

Just curious -- those of you that have been redeployed (fired is a better word) from Lilly, are any of you happy? Is there life after Lilly? Or are you bitter and still out of work, or maybe working and still bitter? Do tell.

I'm very happy I'm gone from Lilly. The Lilly paycheck is not worth all the hassles and stress. I went from $74K+ a year to $32K, but I enjoy my work now. I work at Menard's, where I actually get to things that is helpful to others. No more PMs, no more business casual, and no more voice mails from John. Life is good.

Well good for you. I might even stop in your store sometime to pick up a few improvements for my new home in Noblesville. By the way, where is the best place to park so my Mercedes does not get dinged? I don't like parking near pickups.

Likewise, I don't like electric carts for the morbidly obese dinging my pick up.

So you've got more money and a nicer car than the guy who works at Menard's. He's never had a pecker in his mouth. He wins. By the way, if you want to buy some items to improve your home, understand that you will have to do the actual work on the house. You can't BS it with powerpoint slides and being seen at lunch with the "right people."

My life partner does all the grungy work. He's into that type of thing. Powerpoints bring home the bacon, by the ton. Learn the system and then master it. Life is not about hard work. That's for the minions.

I took the VEP two years ago and it was a great decision for me. I now work for a smaller company which is much less bureaucratic and political than Lilly. The leadership respects and rewards good work which is definitely a breath of freesh air. Good performance is a predictor of greater responsibility and that alone is very motivating.
I wish the best to all my former Lilly colleagues and hope you find what you are looking for at Lilly or elsewhere.

It is perfectly acceptable to fire your bosses, if you are financially independent and have made no compromising promises. This company would throw you under a bus if not for fear of lawsuits or whistle blowing. Likewise, don't feel any loyalty when something better comes along (and IT WILL, SOON I promise - ) keep trying, lots of positions opening up now, many recruiters most active in 5+ years.

Don't find your self tattoo'ed with "Free Entireprise System" tire tracks.

A couple 30-something guys decided to surprise their septageneration father who had been a widower for 5 long years. So, they hired a "call girl" to pay him a visit for some "service."

She shows up at the door, voluptuous and radiant, and says, "Do you want some super sex?"

"I'll take the soup"

I found a job at a university doing roughly the same work I was doing at Lilly. Although the pay is less, I am very happy. There is no bureacracy, no PM's, no phony meetings. People here actually enjoy their work and are happy. Life is good.

Yes! There definitely is LAL. Out 18 months now, and have a great position doing real IT work. Salary is 30% less but happiness, fulfillment, sense of purpose is greatly increased while stress is way down. It was the right choice for me. Life's too short.
