Any indication yet on whether their will be job cutbacks







Come on man, you know no one will tell you. They are sharpening their knives and as soon as the ink is dry on the deal the slash and burn will start. Rochester HQ and NJ offices will be decimated and burned to the ground. They have no need for all those HQ people because they operate in the decentralized model, per Pearson. Don't know that plants will be affected much, probably some cuts there as well. $800 mill is a big number.
 






We are doomed. Who is the consultant organization that is going to assess B+L for job cuts? If we know that we can predict which groups and percentages based on that.
 












For sure there will be drastic layoffs; this is for certain. Like a previous s poster stated, there will not necessarily be a rhyme or reason for who goes and who stays as the goal is based on what Mike promised to the street. He usually states a number, in this case $800 million, but behind the scenes it will always be more.

I’d advise everyone to update their resumes regardless of whether you think you will be retained or let go. This is twofold, 1) do not assume anything (logic does not apply) and 2) even if you are retained your world will be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

If your desire is to work in a *real* pharmaceutical company this is not the place, if human relations is important to you this is not the place, if career growth is important to you this is not the place, and if a life balance is importation to you this is not the place. If you are in R&D or Quality, run for the hills!!!!!

The new place will be worse, guaranteed, unless you consider yourself severely underworked. That is the one ill that will definitely be cured! And "Assuming we have jobs" is the worst assumption you can make in a Valeant takeover.

McKinsey will be the consultants used, and they are indeed ruthless.

Valeant makes massive cutbacks and layoffs, so that anybody left behind is pressured .... Severely pressured to do the work of about 5 to 9 people, and if you do not shape up immediately, you are gone.

that's the truth. one of the weakest salesfoces I have seen. Someone posted in another thread about rats scrambling off the sinking ship. current sales force at BL are rats that scambled onto the sinking ship. all the real talent left BL years ago and many times over. so many retreaded territories at BL. 6 people in my old territory since I left pre warburg. that's 6 reps since 2007. that's 100% annual attrition in that 1 territory. Pathetic.
