Any idea when Field Sales Layoffs will start?

January 1st---just after the severance packages get smaller. It's on the HR website.

What happened to the "we have no plans for further layoffs" bullshit that Bob McMahon fed us only a year ago? How can anyone believe a damn thing management says? I know I sure don't.

Notices to FS will most likely be in the Nov time frame, 60 day WARN period. Toast Jan 1 as poster said. There is no reason to not start looking if you have already not started. I am too old 56 to make a move and will have to wait. Bob M. has done nothing but lied, lied, lied to FS about management plans for reductions.

Last time there was a company wide layoff notice our director sent a voice mail to the entire region stating that the sales side ok with no plans for layoffs. This time there was silence. Not a good sign. Looks like layoffs for sales are in the pipeline since there is no pipeline. Everyone has to be ready!

Yes, don't be naive. I have been around long enough to tell you that even if someone is telling you not to worry, no layoffs for Sales...they could very well be lying. I've seen it many times before. In the other pharma co. I was with, they would tell us not to worry, and then BAM, tons of reps gone. They're not about to tell you the truth. Everyone would stop working until the hammer fell, right?
For those of you new to this game, simply do not believe everything you hear. Do not trust.

I have been thinking your way for the last 15 or more years. Accordingly, I really can't remember the last time I honestly did any work in this job. Honestly, that is.

Just ask your Novartis rep friend. They went to a national meeting where they were told there was no layoff plan and they were the most important asset. They returned home from the meeting and the layoff was announced. Trust no one.

Though we'd all like to already know, it doesn't really matter when the layoff announcement is made....everyone has pretty much checked out in my opinion....while Merck reps have never been super-motivated (after all, Merck is not a sales-oriented company), now what little was there is completely gone.
