Any idea what a Novartis MS ABL makes?









I have a good job but saw a MS ABL job posted and wondered if it could be a step up in compensation. Any insight would be appreciated.

In most cases it would be a step up unless you have 10+ years w/ the company. You will still make more but will it be worth it has to be a question to ask yourself. These ABL / District Managers are the worst jobs in any company. You have to sell your soul to the Cool-Aid, Get shit from RMs, remember it's not sales anymore but the RMs still push, for what? I don't know but there is always issues from above. Deal w/ some reps that can't get expense reports in on time, Rep Partners fighting, Then HR giving the order to act like an A-Hole to help w/ attrition. But mostly the ABL is just a go in-between w/ no authority at all and has to be the ultimate cool aid distribution.

The training is terrible for the ABLS, they have no idea how to motivate Representatives they break all the rules for a company that's under a CIA it's unbelievable what some of them do I know for a fact HR doesn't give a shit. They are encouraged to put high pressure on their reps to perform better and better they don't know how to take a step back and say thank you l. The mado seems to be what have you done for me lately ? If you don't like it they make it very clear not to let the door hit you in the ass. There's a real problem with this organization. There are some managers that are totally inappropriate, and often say things to reps and doctors that Novartis could be held liable for. Even though the company is under a CIA nobody seems to give a crap. If a rep complains about their manager to HR there is often retaliation, and HR does absolutely nothing. I have seen good reps leave and horrible managers stay and keep doing things their unethical way.
 












I lead a sales team at a competitor and every one of my reps make over $100K. Either this is way off or Novartis can’t possibly retain good people.
The later is true at least in the CV division can't retain good ABLS and don't personally know of any reps at 100K. Most 80K-90K. Good people are leaving in droves.

Thats because in CV you are basically a primary care rep selling a product that is struggling to hit expectations. In Immunology side the reps make up to 150k base with a nice sign on bonus and stock grants. The ABL's are around 200k. Neuro should be about the same. If you can get the job go for it- the managers get better stock grants and higher bonus.

Stay away from the CV division all the top brass is leaving and reading this I guess there's a good reason, they are not making their quota and the managers are Beatdown and s*** rolls downhill it's a terrible place to be. It's the blame game and RAPID is a shit show. There are s lot of really bad managers making off-label claims to doctors offices this I see a big lawsuit coming for the company. My ABL talks about how it's helps improve ejection fraction and talks about other doctors and other patients that is a big No-No. We did not study that she is making false product claims like that under a CIA will mean a big lawsuit from the OIG for Novartis if it gets reported or an office or rep decides to blow the whistle.

I remember the days when a w/w went like this. You met your manager for coffee or Breakfast 8:30/9am. Talk small talk for an hour, talk about the business too, went over a few reports too. Talked about the "Big" Influencers or Main Mds in the territory. It was just understood that's where you went on the w/w. Managers used to care about the main guys in the territory or at least tried to show them Management support. 1-2 calls before lunch, lunch, w/ or w/o and office then two more calls to other main targets. Same show "Every Other" month. always done early by 2:30-3pm. Now it's a total sh&& Show w/ these ABLs and stupid c/calls and 1 on 1's. ABL would rather see an MD w/ no scripts than support a main target that's actually supporting the business. They haven't figured out that 1/3 of the MDs get it, (will write), 1/3 will listen (might write) and the bottom 1/3rd should just be forgotten about. It's called working smart. Not this company though, ABLs will ask you 100X's why someone isn't writing and if you tell the truth, MD said he will never write it because of Xreason, ABL will try to figure out how to sell them... Total waste of time...every w/w. Then if you do take them them to see a Main target they F' it up for you because they want you to be pushy.
 




Remember, they have incompetent people up there that are so insulated from the field they don’t see 1/3 of the physicians should be discarded; they are never going to initiate Entresto. But, before the deluge comes with the hour of reckoning, they have to show that they did all they think should be done; which by the way is 1990s thinking. The performance from the PCPs they think will come won’t; reality will hit them. That’s when the downsizing will come.

I couldn't agree with you more these ABLS are the worst, working with her is a f__ing nightmare. The day after she leaves I have to assess the damage control cause she pisses everyone off. Where do they find these people !

Same here. I usually tell my MDs up front I'm coming in w/ him please be patient w/ me for 5 minutes. That usually works great.

Don't worry they will get their day. The thing is they think they are making nice friends w/ us and assuming we actually respect them. Here is what's going to happen one day when we all get laid off. Some of us will move on to new "Good" companies. These loser managers will think we will help them get a new job. We won't. See it's easier to get a Rep job than to move on as a Manager. But they think we will help them Network into the future, we won't. I've seen it happen before at my last company. The DM was a tool, and when we all got laid off he tried to Network w/ some of us that moved on to good positions, we didn't even pick up the phone from him. These guys haven't figured out that we are all in this scam together and you sleep in the bed you make. They are burning their bridges daily w/ us and don't even know it. When a manager gets laid off it's 10X worse to get another manager job than a rep. Think about it, there are 10 Reps to 1 Manager at every company so good luck "bloated ego" ABL. And the final item is NVS has a very bad image in the industry so getting a new MGT Job is going to that much harder, maybe 20X harder. Enjoy your power trip now ABL because at some point it will end and you will then see what you created for yourself.

This is 100% BS. Reps make significantly more than 100K. The folks leaving are doing so because of the IC plan. Novartis needs to fix this ASAP.
