She said no politics.What part of no politics is hard to understand. I know. I know. It is all my fault.

But, I am sure that in some universe a thread with the words Sarah Palin, Michele Obama and Presidential has absolutely, positively nothing to do with politics. No sirree bob. It was all about "leadership"

I haven't been here long and I agree philosophically with what you're saying but the political stuff turns into galvanizing, hateful diatribes and manifestos. Same with religion. I personally vote for re-opening the poli board and starting a religion thread so the bashers can bash but please - they need to stop horning in on threads over here that have a different purpose. I'm not talking about you either, I like some of your posts.

SPN, I am partially in agreement with you but this is a privately owned site so it's take it or leave it. I was put in modmo partially for discussing a topic that was a nationwide, prime time, ABC TV special the night before I posted on it. I too thought it was ridiculous but then again, this is a society and one has to decide if they want to me a member or not. Way more objected than approved so what would I have to gain by continuing the topic here? To be an accepted member of a society you have stay in the guidelines. I decided to be a member and have never discussed the topic eith NOR have I bitched and complained about it.

I too hope (as FWF suggests) they reopen the poli thread but it was so polarizing and so nasty it may have taken too much mod time. When it comes to porn and blow jobs, ironically 2 films recveiving nominations for awards depict cunnilingus (the female equivalent of a blow job). I haven't heard any one complaining about those.

One was rated X at first but they let it slide. What I'm saying is oral sex is a completely acceptable subject in our society today. It wasn't when I was a kid but given that it is - it certainly should fall on the playground since that's what it is - adult 'play'.

I do agree that poli talk on CP is attracting the trolls and the conversation gets twisted. The world arena is filled with an array of topics that affect us everyday. So, we have to segregate the issue or news if politics is intertwined? OK.

Meanwhile, the mods allow people to trash others and processes on company boards? Why is one easier to handle?

Slugs down the rest of his Bud and asks the barkeep, "Can I talk about sex and travel?" Barkeep "Sure , no probelm there.
So the cowboy says "Great. FUCK YOU, I'm leaving"

Scarlett, I understand believe me and agree with you. And if they'd open the poli boards, the locusts would probably go back home so I wish they would.

Here's a suggestion: Hit 'contacts' at the bottom and send them a direct email asking them the question. I've done that about issues I thought were unjust in the past, sometimes I get an answer, sometimes I don't and when I do, I don't always agree with it but have no choice other than to accept it.

There's a classic answer to the freedom of speech issue - Is a person proteced by the first amendment if he walks into a crowded room and yells, "Fire!" ? And if that room stampedes an someone gets killed does freedom of speech protect him? It should. But it doesn't.

All I'm saying to you is I think you're beating your head against a wall. It's certainly you're right though.

I have to agree with you. There should be a board we can discuss current events- and maybe we should name it that- it would be open to many topics. Mybe there should also be a board with no policies.

Not all speech is protected under the 1st Amend- lying is not. I think one can say that the person who yelled Fire, lied and therfore is in vilolation of the first amendment becuase Interpersonal speech that results in harm or damage to another, particularly where the damage or harm caused is intended or reasonably forseeable, because it is fraudulent, libelous or uttered as part of or in the furtherance of a criminal activity, a criminal conspiracy or a criminal enterprise
