And the hammer drops again for IG/IO

you cannot commoditize a specialty offering like genzyme genetics. cannot be done. when labcorp takes over, you have inexpensive and limited talent salespeople, not the educated consultants that genzyme employed. labcorp cuts service levels to fit within the p&l and clients finally get fed up with whatever garbage labcorp is peddling. dianon? monogram? esoterix? uslabs? all gone, gone, gone.

when numbers aren't made, heads roll. shame on you if you are a fmr genzyme employee who stuck around to wait for the inevitable. anyone with a fraction of talent left that place long ago and doesn't put themselves in the position of dealing with labcorps low budget nonsense and layoffs.

they are all a bunch of salary hunters. Its all about the base, not IC. Thats why they are stuck here. Consultants?? you must be kidding me. Bunch of over paid whiners.

ahh, today's call was pathetic. have some conviction for what you (not so long ago) stood for. today's call was trying to convince your sales team that this is a great opportunity. with the big wig boss threatening either perform or you get the ax. what the hell is that? motivation and encouragement at its best. you know what it totally sucks, we know and you know. go out with dignity not like this, it looks so trite and ridiculous. can't wait to get the hell out of here myself.

Unfortunately, "threatening" is THE management model, for LCA. There are very, very few managers left, anywhere in the company, who are genuine leaders. The rest either don't care or don't know how to lead. The degree that hangs upon the wall is there to let you, and everyone else, know that they know everything, period. They don't ask questions because they have all of the answers. Besides, it would be undignified to ask a paean for a suggestion or opinion. They create solutions to problems that don't exist; refuse to acknowledge problems that do exist and in general, spend most of their time implementing inane, pointless policies designed with only one purpose in mind... justifying their job. They threaten others because they are ignorant and paranoid, constantly worried that someone upstairs will figure out that they are pathetic little posers, and replace them with another pathetic little poser. So, they wield a big stick, knowing full well that the job market is tighter than a well-digger's a**, and they get away with it because they can. They have no conscience, few scruples and even less common sense... and that's what LCA considers good management. Clients are disappearing faster than a fart in the wind; morale is at an all-time low and the company, on the whole, is a mere shell of its former self. Yet people, like SJ, who ruined everything in Columbus, and the whole division for that matter, consistently get promoted, so they can wreak havoc company-wide. At some point, the whole house of cards will come tumbling down, and those who have made huge gains will live comfortably, and guilt-free while the rest of us are looking for new jobs and trying to keep the mortgage paid and the lights on. It's a story that has played out time and time again, on a much larger scale, throughout history. Have's vs. have-nots. In the meantime, hold on; do a good job and try to find somewhere else to go... it's what a lot of us are doing. It's status quo at LCA.

Well put. Only time will tell how the next few months and this official "integration" will go. I don't think anyone is making anything positive of it. We understand the LC way now along with the lying. Most people are just trying to find something/anything else.

What is particularly striking is that on the one hand this company rants and raves about the bottom line while at the very same time they drive away loyal talent and clients. The employees who are desperate enought to stick around are bullied and expected to clean up the messes created by their "superiors. "It is not about "quality" with them, it is about "cheap". I have never worked at a company with lower, almost non-existant, morale.

Obviously everything we were told would never happen already has, for the most part. Do you think this new comp plan and reorg will allow Labcrap to fire us under their "rule of 78"? Then we can all be replaced by lower paid, less educated SME's and KAE's. Sounds like a plan. Why? Oh, because Labcrap is ONLY about making money and nothing else. Patient care? Client satisfaction? What?

Hey, i'm on the Integrated side. Don't insult the SME's and KAE's. The shear lack of training at this dreadful organization does not allow for these guys to grow to the caliber they can be. I have worked with some really good people who, yes agreed to come work at this hell hole but don't judge the reasons why. And don't act like we and I mean IG/IO are superior beings. We are just a number here like everyone else, we are not viewed as specialists as now clinical work will be in our numbers, how to they say "give you skin in the game", oh yeah that's total bullshit. Just don't insult people who may be hardworking and trying to support there families. It will make them continue to dislike us as some of them already do.

Right we can't fault them for the fact that LC doesn't attempt to train their people. There is no "new sales person" orientation for a week or so like some of us had. No national sales meetings. Everyone is all over the map (literally) and in terms of the strategies they figure out for themselves. Unfortunately we are going down the same path. It's not about actually understanding the product and being able to convey it others. We'll just have one day meetings where we talk 60% of the time about how we're going to bring on the new business, 20% giving pats on the back for business we've brought on and the last 20% of the time learning about whatever the new flavor of the month product is. If we don't have a one day meeting we'll just cram all of that into a 45 minute conference call while we're on the road and in between calls and definitely 100% focused.
