Everyone has always talked about Amgen it's great culture. Over the last several years that culture has totally changed. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for the job I have and I work hard each day to sell more, but nothing works here. No one cares that it does not work!! Copay cards don't work, lunch budgets cut, virtual programs are a must but oh yeah you have to have 4 HCPs and you have to all be 6 feet apart.( but there are very few restaurants to accommodate or there is a very high minimum food requirement), the lack of manage care, every system we use is so outdated, and last , Atlas. Every time we get a chance to change targets and remove HCPs that have moved or deceased or should not be our targets, they end up right back in our targets. Its gotten to be insanity here. No one wants to hear any complaints. Just be glad you have a job. WE ARE ALL THANKFUL FOR THE JOB AND WANT TO DO GOOD IN OUR CAREERS HERE AT AMGEN BUT PLEASE WAKE UP AND SEE YOU ARE CONSISTENTLY LOSING TALENT DUE TO YOUR LACK OF LISTENING TO THE PROBLEMS AND MAKING ADJUSTMENTS THAT WOULD SAVE AMGEN SO MUCH MONEY OVER TIME. WE WONT THE OLD AMGEN BACK WERE YOUR VOICE MATTERS.
CULTURE IS ABOUT MAKING YOUR PEOPLE FEEL GOOD ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING EVERYDAY.

Amgen culture has sucked big time for at least 20 years and the company has lived this long on reputation. If you can't see that this is your problem. Get out you will feel better.

I have never heard anyone talk about Amgen as having a "great culture". It has been a very toxic culture for well over 15+ years now. W/hat are you talking about? Talent never comes here except when forced by acquisition and then they leave as fast as they can. I mean just look at the Kyprolis team from Onyx. I am fairly certain that not one of their reps, managers or Area Directors are still here. Think about that. Amgen could not retain anyone from that team. These were highly tenured and successful hem/onc reps and not one of them saw Amgen as a good place to work. Let that sink in...

teleconferences and webex all the time.

they have poor salary increases

tracking devices on cars

low starting salaries

micromanaging

big Pharma mentality
 




You poor saps! The beginning of the end was when you had George M. and Jim D. join your organization. The GSK infused culture has been embedded since that time. Seriously, just look at how many former GSK employees you have. Now go and look at GSK site here on CP. Look at how unhappy those folks are. GSK has a long long long history of corporate culture toxicity. A problem that continues today. Layoffs will continue at Amgen. Expect one about every 2 years. You will continue to stab your co-workers in the back in order achieve a higher rating. Toxic toxic toxic! Sorry you folks have to go through this. Wish you the best.

GSK rep here. I can tell you GSK’s culture is horrible. People are resigning weekly. There are some good people at GSK. But the majority are horrible people pretending to be nice and failing miserably. Hopefully Amgen isn’t as bad. Nothing is as bad as GSK.

Unfortunately they are very similar...the issue is at least GSK is a "Big Pharma"...Amgen still tries to pretend on the surface to be a "Biotech" company. Culturally were are as big pharma as you can get.
 








The phrase "big pharma" has about as much significance as "assault weapon". Shame on you clowns who actually work in this industry and use it as if it's a legitimate term.
