Amgen buy out?

not sure how good your source is, but a buy out has been in the speculation for weeks, if not months on open forums about amgen in the investment community. Given the weakness of $, it probably makes sense to have a buyer from Europe.

What do you think is for sale? A deep and productive pipeline? State of the art technology and scientist? A motiviated sales force? Great manufacturing capabilities? If you could answer yes to at least one of these questions, then someone will buy Amgen. No, Amgen will be dismantled by molecule to different buyers. Sort of like the 1990's when divesting was the way to maximize Management wealth, with a who gives a shit attitude for the workers and shareholders.

Yes, the buyout rumors are actually fact. From a high-level source, i've been told that the new suitor is Sanofi-Aventis, one of the most healthy pharmaceutical firms looking to enrich their portfolio with biologics.

I am no Amgen glory monger but the pipeline is strong and Sanofi-Aventis? Please! They just hired the biggest idiot on the ATO campus! Talk about David and Goliath.

I know enough to see the pipeline every day. I believe the buyout but not Sanofi. Pfizer, Lilly, Merck, GE anyone?

It looks like we're just going to sell the company for parts! How sad.

Oh..Mr insider thanks for the crucial info.

Dumbass amgen has $56 BL market cap plus another $17 bl in cash. There is NO company out there that has $80 billion to buy us for now. Pfizer jad that much money and tried hell in 2008 but could not succeed and ended up taking over wyeth. Thats pretty much about it.

Sanofi is busy buying small companies with a "hopeful" pipeline or ball powder companies. Amgen's price tag is not where they are focused. However, if you believe management is bad here....pray that Sanofi never takes over. The leadership there is a 'shit-for-brains' operation that is depending on employee lay-offs and miracle pipelines to survive.
