All recruiters can kiss my ass.

Recruiters are just like real estate agents it the job everyone thinks they can get anytime they feel like it and they are right.

They both have similar low intelligence levels.

Also, I love it when they want to dictate to us what selling is all about when most of them were either too stupid, or too lazy to even make it in sales.

And, a few years in sales, is not sales. Real sales people have 10 plus years experience.

To the person that writes the job description...please list the cities covered. It really makes a BIG difference on who will apply to the job...instead of saying Orlando area, Atlanta, San Francisco...just list the cities along with territory name. Tired of applying for your jobs to be told mgr only wants to interview people who live in this city

And the story goes on. More evidence of shit recruiters from this company. I have over 5 years, with high recommendations from this company, and get passed over and ignored after a contract ends. I am done.

recruiters are a dime a dozen. Many if not all read the job postings from companies, then place an ad that's the same as the company post just to get resumes. Contact candidates, screen them and when they have enough of you good, professional people, call the company and say "hey I represent around 10 terrific candidates that are a perfect asset to your company. Would you like to me/ recruitment firm??"
That's what lazy recruiters do and they ALL do this at your expense. So, the company hardly ever follow s with their offer. And, you never hear from the recruiter again or the hiring company. Recruiters are job killers.

If anyone honestly believes that there is age discrimination, then contact a law firm and start a class action lawsuit suit. Either shit or get off the pot.

This industry discriminates the most. Not only do they not hire older candidates, but they continually send candidates to interviews with NO intention to hire them. Instead, they hire their friends or internal candidates. So, be smart, and make sure you are not wasting your time, up front, when you applying to the jobs. If the mangers seems like a piece of shit, then they are a piece of shit. Trust your instincts. We all deserve to working within a good company culture. In this industry, this environment is almost non existent, because the managers that are moving up in this industry, move up, because they are good at kissing ass, not selling.

I happen to think that Inventiv recruiters are the worst out there. You contact them or they contact you, you reply by sending your resume and NEVER hear back from them! How are these people recruiters?! Just do your job and let candidates know if you are interested. No one has time to waist on this frivolous behavior!! Jesus!!!! If I were a recruiter, I would never treat candidates this way. Karma is a bitch though!!

This is soooooo true!!!!

I'll say it again...Pharma rep job is marketing , we're not truly selling, whens the last time you got a P.O. signed from the client (if you have to google P.O. then my points already been made).. Shocking! They hire friends and others somehow grandfathered in or connected - happens in every industry..want a job? get a friend or relative former manger to get you hired at their workplace..Age discrimination, (over)qualified and not hired! another shocker...this is 1 step above entry level job, got somekind of degree, 3 years working at Enteprise, look nice, can chew gum and walk, you're a possible candidate...Who hires someone for a contract job not living in that city?.. sure move to Orlando for a contract job that may last 18 months..Finally Recruiter's mail box fills up in about 45 seconds with hundreds of resumes for any opening...they've got a tough job to weed out all the BS and find that guy/gal that worked 3 yrs at Enterprise, got a degree....

Agreed, inVentiv recruiters have a tough gig. I don't know about the family/friend hiring, haven't ever had any experience with that. At the end of the day I don't think the recruiters really have that much a of say in hiring, just in who they think should go on to the F2F, and if there is a tie breaker needed for some reason. Most of the time the decision on who travels to the next round is done by another group based impart upon the recruiters' recommendations. Regardless, the recruiters have a tough job.

Just remember this is a sales call, don't make it hard on them. You are one of hundreds of phone screens they are going to have to do. Make sure your background info is up to date. Speak clearly, even paced, connect on what's important, and allow them to get a little rest in during your phone screen. Make it as easy as possible for your customer to say yes.

Sitting on your ass all day with no supervision is not a tough job.

Try doing field rides with managers dissecting your every word, being accountable for numbers that you have no idea where they are coming from, dealing with doctors that don't care about you, dealing with jealous counterparts, jealous front office people, traffic everyday, and emails, conference calls, and about fifty other things I can't think of right now.

Sales people in this industry are under paid.

Well, everyone is allowed to have their own point of view and experiences. Recruiters are supervised, and are accountable for numbers. Personally my field rides with aren't quite the hell that you describe. Numbers will always be an issue if that is your only focus. I would say I have very positive relationships with most of my docs. Even if they support or are speakers for competition, and I never really sensed any sort of jealousy from front office staff, mainly because I talk to the docs and clinicians. What you describe sounds like hell for anyone. Are you sure this is what you want to do?
