Acumed AcuLOC

I know they have the 'AcuLOC 2' plate out now and have been cleaning house in my area with it. I suspect it might have a little to do with the whole synthes-depuy-biomet shit show. The one rep in my area says it's because of the frag-loc screw, 'frag-specific' plates, and an osteotomy guide for revisions in their new system. Anyone seen these as big selling points? I know some guys want variable angle and some guys don't care for it either way. When I asked the local guy here said you don't need v-a screws 'if the plate is designed anatomically, and you fit the plate properly.' What do you guys think?

Also, starting to see medartis stuff show up, which i haven't seen until recently

I used the Frag loc maybe twice. It's for a very specific type of fracture and its just not something that's gonna get used regularly or would need to be in the set.
The main thing most of the docs liked was the option of proximal plate or distal sitting plate, depending on their preference. If they have a distal lip fracture on the volar side they need to capture they can go with the distal sitting plate. Another issue is they have a very narrow plate for females in both the proximal and distal plates.
If there is anything I would attack would be the complexity of the set, damn just open that lid of the set and enough to send most techs running for the hills. We couldn't do a single case without a rep being there to walk them through. Very easy to mix all these plates up. Hell the plates aren't even labeled as wide, narrow or standard, just gold or silver, right or left.
Lastly the targeting guide is hard for the doctors to visually see the fracture. Most of the HI guys like the speed guides for the fact they can really see the plate and the fracture well.
