Actual MS offer....GNE is CHEAP

Got my offer and I don't understand why GNE didn't bother to tell me my requested salary was way outside of what they are wiling to pay. Put down $155K from day one and if they are only give a few thousand in raises, they knew this from the beginning and should have let me know. I would have walked away on day 1.

Current $141K
Asking $155K
Offer $145K

Not willing to negotiate. Seriously? A $4K raise....not worth the time I spent on the interview!!

Anyone else willing to share his/her offers to see if this is happening to all of us?

I guess you're all that and then some now aren't you. If you don't like it, scram. Thanks for bitching about getting an offer many would be happy to have. We don't need ungrateful fucktards

How long have you been in the industry and in the MS space? I would have thought they would have come in at 150k. P1 did not have authority to state you are asking for too much, etc. But, somebody from HR should have checked in prior to panels. My base salary offer was slightly lower than I had hoped for, but they more than made up for it with my sign-on ask and some other things.

Is the hiring DM new to Gene or no? They should have managed your expectations as well, but clearly they wanted you.

I have been in the industry roughly 7 years total and was offered close to 120k with a significant sign-on, etc. What I have gathered from this board is that I am a cheap date compared to a lot of you, but I looked at the big picture and the promise of being taken care of once I was in.

I have 13 years of MS EXPERIENCE and did not even get an interview with the manager. The entire process was fucked up.

Listen, the poster wasn't saying he/she was "all that," they were simply stating their time was wasted by GNE when GNE KNEW they weren't going to offer the person anywhere near what they said they needed to take the job. That was the first question candidates were asked. There is NO excuse for not telling ppl up front that their expectations were not going to be met. Ppl could have dropped out early and made room for others. Instead, time, money, and energy was wasted by GNE and by candidates. Going thru this process for 2-3 months to find out they were never going to offer what you asked for is BS. You, sir, are the fucktard.

Excuse me? I never said anything about being "all that". My only complaint is that I wasn't told early in the process that my salary expectation was too high. I would have dropped out and not wasted anyone's time.

I just asked for a sailors hat so that I could fit in with the other men and they said no to that. Geesh!

Oh, get over yourself! You sound like a complaining child. Do us all a favor and just move on already. I find it so silly that so one states their current base (which I believe is a complete fabrication) and then thinks they deserve so much more. If you were worth more, your company would pay you more.
I believe this is coming from a disgruntled person that didn't get the job. This post is such a pathetic untrue mess. You should be embarrassed to post this. I also don't believe this post but even if it were true, then this person is the most short-sided person I know. You have to look at the whole package not just the base. This person sounds so ungrateful and truly, what company would want someone with this kind of attitude? None.
If there was a remote chance this post was accurate, PLEASE OH PLEASE TELL US ALL THAT YOU WALKED AWAY. None of us would want to work with you.

If you are are currently making a great living, 150k+and you don't like the offer get over it. 150k in base salary in this industry now is great, you have done well be proud. If the Ocre data was subpar then DNA would need MS specialist sales reps, the data is fabulous so the need is less. Yes the drug may fall apart with safety later, but right now it is the only drug to ever work in PPMS. As an MS patient this is a home run. MS specialist MDs will open the door tomorrow to whoever shows up with the drug, trust me I know first hand. This may change but out of the gate the doors will be open to Genentech based on the drug. This industry is now super competitive and Genentech can pick who they want to build a great sales team, yes Genentech can be arrogant but they have one of the best track records in the industry.

What a shame,so many complaints about 6 figure offers from an awesome company, calling this company cheap etc. I was called on the 23rd and told I'm still under consideration for the position. I'm not bitter,I'm assuming I'm the 2nd choice and they've yet to tell me NO due to someone trying to get more pay. I would gladly accept a Genentech job and get to leave my declining company. Be happy you were the chosen one. Good luck to those who truly appreciate their offers and want to work for an awesome company.

You have a great attitude and something good will happen to you. I still believe some of these posts that are making these pay claims are nothing but lies from people that are so upset and angry that they were passed on. Cafepharma at times can be a cesspool for disgruntled people. Unfortunately, These type of messages where someone states an offer and says the company is cheap is very common after a selection process has been completed because many of the candidates that were not chosen are extremely mad and feel the need to lash out and say bad things about a company in order to get even. It's a very childish type of behavior but you can see so many similiar threads if you were to click on other companies right now. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

LOL. check back in 6 months and see if you feel the same way. Maybe your kool aid will run out by then. Can you say cancer and PML?

It's clear you didn't get an offer. It's sad that you are essentially wishing this upon MS patients. Things don't always work out. Move on and quit being bitter. Compassion and integrity are qualities you don't seem to possess.

I totally agree with your comments. Sad that people have to reacted this way when it doesn't go their way. Again, congratulations to the selected candidates! I know they will all do great!
