Abbvie yet another junk company in the biopharma space?

After going through an initial phone screen for a senior principal scientist position here in the Bay Area in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology (with the recruiter in the Sunnyvale facility), I realize that no real/quality experienced hiring manager exists at Abbvie in that space. I am beginning to wonder if it is really NOT worth pursuing opportunities with Abbvie. My experience with the recruiter has been less than stellar. These people are incredibly unprofessional and plain stupid.

Can anyone in Bioinformatics comment, if my gut instinct about Abbvie is fair? Quality bioinformatics doesn't seem to exist at Abbvie, and those that do work there, seem to be absolutely clueless and plain dumb.

Thanks.

At the risk of being totally flamed- I completely disagree.
I have been with Abbvie long enough to know we have some stellar managers.
I know people aren’t thrilled with the VP or some senior leadership (mainly how they’ve handled homeschooling parents and Covid)
But other than that I think AbbVie is one of the best companies to work for.
there is a reason people stay here so long. It is very difficult to break in to Abbvie. And maybe you’re insulted they’re not falling over to hire you. I think that’s more of a reflection of you than the company.
Sorry that in middle of a pandemic you’re not thrilled with how the hiring process is going.

ITA and with any company you deal with there are incompetents. Persevere researcher you maybe pleasantly surprised.

You didn’t pass initial screen. Coming here to cry proves why.
So long SUCKER!

Thanks for proving my point. Abbvie does seem to have quite a few pea-brained individuals like yourself.
This is in Computational Biology (one of the most competitive fields out there, which pea-brained fools like you couldn't even remotely comprehend, even if you tried).

Get this - I already served as a Principal Scientist in Comp.Bio at Roche, some 6 yrs. ago, and serve in a leadership role at a mega diagnostics company at this time. I could go on to Genentech (which is by far the most Comp. Bio savvy company in Biopharma), but I am looking for a change which is why I sent off my resume to a few biopharma companies (most which rank way higher than Abbvie IN THAT SPACE). The ONLY company that left me with a very poor impression thus far is Abbvie. I am ok with being told why my candidacy doesn't suffice (no offense in that honestly), except the recruiter NEVER put me in touch with the hiring manager (and I do not have any direct contacts at Abbvie). The recruiter was downright rude and obnoxious (a pig just like yourself).

Also, get this - I am a veteran in Bioinformatics, and directly worked with TOP NOTCH leaders in Bioinformatics. I am pretty well connected in the field and KNOW FOR A FACT that there is NO TOP TALENT IN BIOINFORMATICS at Abbvie. So who are you kidding?? Does it hurt to be stupid?

If this is how unprofessional your under-qualified recruiters are, who would want to apply to or work for your company anyway?? Lol - clown!

Thanks for your kind response.

There is honestly no offense in being given an honest answer as to why my candidacy doesn't suffice. There can be any number of reasons why things do not work out. My pet-peeve is with how the process is being handled. They have been holding on to my candidacy since January (pre-COVID times), and won't move forward with it one way or the other. They could just decline with an honest answer, and that would have been fine too, except they won't. The recruiter has been incredibly unprofessional to work with (he even missed the initial phone call, and never apologized, but casually called back at a later time without re-scheduling).

I am left with a very poor impression of Abbvie at this time, and will most likely withdraw my candidacy. I don't think I'd be interested in working for such people anyway. This is coming from a 20 yr. veteran in that space who has worked in leadership roles for several top-notch companies.

You most likely screwed this opportunity up with your posts. Sometimes not hearing anything is good. Withdraw your candidacy and move on. Work with a different recruiter. My interpretation of your posts is that you are angry about not being shown the respect that you feel you deserve. It does not matter who you are or what you have done, everyone is expendable, from the CEO on down.

First of all, no one in their right mind would give detailed specifics like this. Too easy for Abbvie to find your identity. Second, I smell a disgruntled Stemcentrx employee trying to stir the pot.

Do you miss Stemcentrx? Sorry but Gonzales $5.4 B blunder purchase of a horrid company caused your departure. Why come here lying? A scientist complaining about a recruiter? Yall gotta do better than that, but nice try anyway. Don’t worry, you’ll be joined by Allergan staff shortly.

Speaking about Allergan why is the WHC team still in Summit? The sales team and reps are still a separate silo. I though they'd be integrated in the AbbVie organization for starters (then let go with the next 6-12 months).
