6735- Incompetence Caused Contract Demise

So what really happened? Looking at this from a 10,000ft view, it seems obvious that the Deerfield massacre (August Meetings) went down because Takeda could no longer deal with the inept "leadership" they were interfacing with on a daily basis.

CG sounds like an inbred Jersey girl- could you imaging MB having to talk with her on a routine basis? How could you not fire Quintiles with that as the project lead? CG was way too busy guzzling numerous bottles of wine (or Takeda koolaid) and believing her own bullshit to see what was happening around her.

Those who would defend her would say that she was unaware of what Takeda was planning. What!?! It was obvious to everyone!! She was told on multiple occasions (as far back as April) that this was dying and she still yelled "the contract is secure" from the top of the mountain. Either she was a) too inept to see what Takeda was doing, b) awful at keeping the client happy or c) simply didn't care. Any way you slice it, this is a failure of leadership on her part.

So what does Quintiles do? They PROMOTE HER. Holy Hell...now she'll be out there trying to attract new business after she presided over the Quintiles version of the Titanic. She watched the largest contract Quintiles ever had burn to the ground. So, the next logical step for her was to side-step this mess and conveniently walk away claiming ignorance.

CG was in Deerfield back in August attending those meetings. Make no mistake- Takeda is shady (look how they've managed the "relationship" since last week), but they let her know what was coming. What did she do? She got out while she could all the while telling everyone to stay because the contract would likely be extended.

Why would she do such a thing? Why would she sell out over 600 people? It was all about billable hours. In order to shift as much shame from this colossal blunder, it became priority #1 to keep as much money rolling into the coffers as possible. This way she could at least show inflow of dollars to Quintile in an effort to minimize the damage to her career.

Sleep well CG...hope your "new and exciting role" at Quintiles was worth what you did to everyone.

Sick part is when people put in their two weeks in August they were begged not to accept offers and stay. I hope nobody listen to them and just left. This thing would be a complete disaster if not for that Contrave $$ so glad Takeda did such a good job projecting lol

I think this is a pretty unfair analysis of CG. I think she is a smart, poised woman and is doing well in leadership positions.

Listen, I can understand feeling burned by this contract. But this is a contract. And it seems to be the name of the game in pharmaceuticals. I started in pharma on this contract, and it was a way to get into the game with some experience ... What else could you possibly expect from it? Time to find a new job. Or be the stereotypical, disgruntled cry baby on cafe pharma and point fingers all day long. But you're - what - under 30? Why be so hostile at this point? Be thankful that you got a way in. And if you're a good rep, apply to every single takeda position that is posted. Your numbers will speak volumes.

The way I understood the demise of this contract - leadership changes at takeda that did not agree with contracting reps. They hired a bunch of wet behind the ears pharma reps, trained us on gout and diabetes - so that we understood what to do on a daily basis. Their real reason for hiring contract was to have an overwhelming SOV for the Contrave launch. Takedas 900 rep sales force is the laughingstock of big pharma. They don't need that many reps to sustain.

Say what you want about CG, but she is not to blame. Pretty exceptional leader who believes in transparency - you have no idea how lucky you are that she gave you a warning that the contract was ending. Think most pharma reps get that courtesy? Asking people to stay was her due diligence. Whatever, she's probably sneaking a peek at this forum here and there, and laughing all the way to the bank.

Good luck!
