60 days versus new job

What are rules on taking a job within the 60 day window and before severance check ?? If u accept one before that 60 days is up could you loose out on package ??

i packaged out in September. If you take another job before the end of the 60 days, the package goes bye-bye. My package said that I could never work for Novartis again. Also, no law suits for age, sex, etc., and a non-compete.

Don't know how they know that you have another job. The HR aspect, that is if a potential employer calls, is handled by a third party. EH HR doesn't want to take the calls. As for the non-compete. The info packet says one thing about non-compete, the actual release that you sign says another. The one that you sign (mine) said that I would not actively recruit current Novartis employees to another company. I think that it's all crap, Novartis does not have the time or resources to put out fires all over the country. Many job applications as if you have signed a NC clause.I suspect that they know that the hiring company may have a problem with the NC and back away. Novartis gets their dirty work done for free. Check with your state dept labor web site, many states, mine included are very unfriendly towards NC clauses as they consider this a "restraint of trade".

I was laid off last year, and you could take a job within those 60 days and not lose your severance. You just lose that 60 days ..

If you are wanting to stay in pharma the avg time to find a new job is about 6 months. Start now in case you have any additional delays. Plus, you may get the double dip!

I do know that when they call to check a reference, it is done through an outside company. You can call the main NVS number and you can get the number to this 3rd party organization. I did this and was able to log into an account and see everything from pay (every single pay check is listed) to employment status and exact dates of employment. Everyone should do this, at least so you know.

For those of you that maybe choosing to stay in the Pharma Profession, you know how competitive it is with the many experienced representatives out there looking for jobs(ie- Pfizer, Sanofi, soon to be Astra Zeneca). I also realize that it sounds enticing to walk away from 5 months of severance. But you need to be realistic with yourselves and remember what's better for your family. I think taking a full time job with benefits is the better option. It at least guarantees you a Full Time Salary. I know it's hard. We're all facing these same questions together.

Do they show the whole paycheck breakdown or just the amount.

If you are still here on the last day employed you get the severance....it doesn't matter if you are still being paid on the books.
