4th qtr earnings....miss

Novartis missed its number today for the 4th qtr 2010. This is the 1st time this has happened at novartis in years.

What does it mean to you? This explains why the MS division gets no bonus. Or why the CV reps stayed at the RIO. No money for the extra's

Go to the Wallstreet journal and read the interview with Jimenez. It will give you insight into his leadership style. What Mr. Jimenez and the rest of us need to realize is that this miss happened BEFORE diovan went generic and BEFORE famara went generic. This was BEFORE the layoff. We all should understand what lies ahead for Novartis in the coming months.

PS this is'nt selling ketchup!

op here

onc is still growing at 11% Mass mrkt 7%

Per NVS website- Novartis took a hit with the law suites and of course the alcon buy. layoff also cost 172mill.

but they saved 230mill when they took our pension away!

Hit was not all sales. but a miss is a miss

Law suites? Suites? You mean suits, right? And not the kind you wear. Or is that where? Damn English language!!!

Yeah, this isn't selling ketchup. Time for J J to go. Leadership missing, insight missing, experience in pharma missing, trust missing from insiders. Time to go. Basel needs to wake-up.

That poor Bastard (really rich) Jiminez has no clue what he is doing. 12 years with NPS and I have never seen the culture and lack of profitability/bonuses, as it is now. It is gut-wrenching!

You need to get rid of the GE sales model (those idiots that are GM's and RD's that came over from GE because of Ludwig ("I'm trilled to be here") as well as RD's KP, RS, CM, because this has done nothing but drive Novartis into a nose dive.....moral down, profits down, sales down, employees cut, CRM cut, CIA plans due to lies and inappropriate behavior by the company, etc, etc. Basel needs to send over a group of mercenaries and cut the crap out of management as they did the work force. Poor planning on their behalf did not make the sales force "worthless". They did and they are cancer to this company!

Can you shed more light on this statement? It was/is my belief that if you were grandfathered into the "old pension", you still have it if you are still with Novartis and it follows you if you were caught up in the recent layoff, layoffs before that or layoffs still to come.

Obviously you should have been buying the stock of the ketchup makers as they've performed better than NVS. They don't worry about company cars, generic competition, etc.

Vasella was interviewed this week about earnings report. He stated that NOVARTIS did achieve its earnings targets. Analysts are the ones that missed, not us. Right out of his mouth.

As per pension. If one was displaced and in pension program they are vested as per amount accrued plus 5%/year( unless they take lump sum ). Novartis no longer makes the additional contribution( over 5%) which increases with age. For many of these displacements Novartis dumped 1.High Salaries 2. Unvested Stock Options (if under 55) 3. Further Pension Contributions.

Saw that. He said it quite smugly too. Next time I'm asked why I didn't hit my goals, think
I'll answer that I did achieve them--it was Novartis who missed. Wonder how far that will fly.

Is it just me or do the ones who oversee the these failures still have their jobs while the peons in the trenches are let go. I have seen it happen in at least 3 layoffs/reorgs that I have been involved in. Some of these same "leaders" are still with the companies they almost mis-managed out of business and still making the critical decisions. Anyone remember when the pharma industry worked from the bottom up rather than all the s**t flowing downhill like it does now? It was a great industry to work in until these losers took over. Upper management=nerd cluster!
