It’s been a rough couple of years at KPA, but for those of us still here should we be optimistic? Or is this shop going to close down? Remember that podiatrist at the Seglentis launch?
Let's pretend we own the company. A territory costs roughly $225,000 each to fully staff and support. Do current profits overcome the usual accounting concern regarding "ongoing business viability".?Nothing to be optimistic about. This launch was a bust with numerous obstacles that corporate did nothing to help us with. Find a new job and get the hell out of this dumpster fire of a company. They need to just shut the doors until the optometry med launches.
Also the “cream” the reps are selling isn’t hitting the TRXs and NRXs. It’s not a blockbuster in primary care. They treat 1000 other things. Rep turnover right is still high. JM escaped, Ben S retired. That tells you enough.Let's pretend we own the company. A territory costs roughly $225,000 each to fully staff and support. Are there still any managed care managers or MSL/CL on payroll? If so - WHY??? Is Sponseller still there? Why? He toured with some country singers and worked at an ad agency, but what is his value?
I do wish the facts supported a different position, but alas they do not.
Parent KCL definitely needs to stop the cash bleed, and shut KPA down to 3 - 10 essential personnel - assuming they they believe the ROCK inhibitor has some PIII hope and an advantage versus in-kind and other MOA competitors.
The financial math says shut it down and be a Phoenix if the ROCK inhibitor proves out. My apologies, but you need to get out NOW.

Think about reality about 18 K a month for a rep. The # 1 rep in the organization sold how many creams? 100? No one and I mean no one is covering the cost to exist. Kowa is kind to keep everyone but check the pipeline, Fuchs disease is closest to launch and absolutely no need for 200 reps in Ophthalmology. I understand why some of my friends stay but if you aren't trying to get out, shame on you. Also the “cream” the reps are selling isn’t hitting the TRXs and NRXs. There’s nothing “kind” about their choice to keep us on every decision they make is a business decision that benefits their bottom line make NO mistake about it! If they could just give us our damn commission we will all be out by February.Think about reality about 18 K a month for a rep. The # 1 rep in the organization sold how many creams? 100? How is not "kind" to maintain a sales force with nothing to sell. A true business decision would have eliminated the entire sales/marketing/training/managed care/MSL organization and support positions, and maintained only the essential
You’re delusional and naive and that’s why you will probably stay put and be a loyal soldier for a company that could give two shits about you. My point is they didn’t keep us on board out of the kindness of their heart. They kept us around because they NEEDED a Salesforce to leverage as a negotiating tactic to get a new product. No company in their right mind would partner with another company who doesn’t already have a sales force in place. In addition to that if they were to let us go they would owe each and every one of us a severance which would have cost equal to or possibly more than what we were paid to stay put. You’re so fucking dumb to think they kept us around our of goodwill this isn’t charity this is a fucking business their bottom line is all they care about not YOU nor your well being. Loser. How is not "kind" to maintain a sales force with nothing to sell, and no contribution to either gross or net revenue. A company owes you what – absolutely nothing. Despite that Kowa kept you on payroll when you contribute ZERO. A true business decision would have eliminated the entire sales/marketing/training/managed care/MSL organization and support positions, and maintained only the absolutely essential functions to meet trade/regulatory/financial obligations. From my perspective, you have been paid to do nothing, accomplish nothing, contribute nothing. If you have earned a commission, take it and leave ASAP. Otherwise STFU.
That’s a good question for our regionals during our regional call but no one ever has the balls to ask (including me, my balls are small)What happens next? We all were supposed have 85rx by now!!!!!
So true. Japan isn’t smart by keeping the sales force around. Ben S retired and JM left. This foot cream doesn’t have enough to do well in the PCP space. How is not "kind" to maintain a sales force with nothing to sell.
