2024 Layoffs

This is such a ridiculous rumor mill that never ends up being true. Tomorrow is the 30th and no one has heard of any sign that layoffs are happening. Why? Because it’s just click bait. This is a great company, with so many great people and will continue to be despite those that seek to tarnish the reputation. You’re not happy? Fine, move on and so will those of us that love what we do every single day!

Looks like you were wrong. What do you have to say now? There were cuts in Marketing, IT, Vision Care, and Finance. Anyone else get hit today?

I love when pompous assholes think they know everything then shit hits the fan today. This has been known and in the works for months. Must suck to be not in the inner circle.

Guess that wasn’t just a “guess”!
And heads up….there may be a second announcement/wave on Monday!
We will just wait and see….

So every November Alcon will continue make more cuts? You always hear how Alcon is making our numbers and doing well all year and then they pull this crap again. Some of the people who were canned yesterday had been with the company for over 20, even 30 years. Keep drinking the kool aid, people. Continue to work hard but pay no attention to the man behind the curtain,.

The layoffs that occurred on Nov 30th are another example of how Alcon will eliminate tenured individuals. The majority of individuals that were impacted this time, like last year, are tenured (mature in age and higher salaries). This is a fact. The inauthentic leadership will sell a line that it is for the long term benefit of everyone still there. The learning/takeaway should be that if you are there, take all you can get because when it is the companies opportunity they will take what is best for them. That is fine to be in your 30’s and believe it won’t happen to you because 20 years seems so far off. Just be aware you will always be at risk with the type of culture that is there and get yours while you can!

They fired me "for cause" last year three weeks before the layoffs. So instead of the severance of 6 months + 1 week for each year of service, I walked out with a small box of stuff off my desk. And since they tell HR interns who do background checks that they would not rehire me, I cannot get hired anywhere else. Glad I wasted more than 20 years of my life working 70 hour weeks for this company.
