As a long suffering zimmer biomet rep, I was excited for the new comp plan to rollout, having faith that sensibility would be restored and 2016 would be something we all look back at and laugh.
Now I have seen the 2017 plan. No longer a 5% sales commission, but a .5% sales commission. Yep you saw that right. One half of one percent. Exactly one tenth of what I was paid when I was hired. This is what zimmer biomet thinks of us reps. I want to say something clever, or hatch some master plan to make a positive change. But instead I want to spend my time redirecting my accounts to my competitors while I find a new job. Not only do I want to leave, but I want to burn my territory down on my way out.
A million dollar territory will pay an amazing $5,000 in commissions this year. Unless you are the rep in the example they demonstrated with the announcement that has a million dollar territory and has 35% growth this year. We all know that is very common in today's implant industry.
David Davorak, Adam Johnson, Brian Burke, what are you thinking? David Josza looks like the smartest person in the company right now. How does this comp plan motivate anyone? Are you just lowering operating costs to make dental look profitable and prep the division for sale?
