Suspect layoffs before end of year, effective 1/1/12...but that's not news. Extension of SP severance package to 12/31/11 is strange...why would Merck want to pay out more than it has to after 11/4/11 (original SP severance packaged expiration)? In any event, the extension adds to the suspician of layoffs.

Its on the homepage of the intranets site - I think the extension allows them more time to lay people off and avoid lawsuits.
