how in the world of Epocrates an Zeus could anyone believe anything that the MASTERS of the MIDWAY will have to profligate, once we are assembled in the potentially bed bug ridden areas for the meeting---if you are in the Palmer House, please check bedbugregistry.com

Just be positive people. Very positive people. Extremely positive people. You don't want to get caught being a douchebag at this one. If you can't be positive people, let your guard down and be positive morons. There is a lot of fun when you're in a room full of morons, the more positive, the better. One thing that hasn't changed about Merck culture is the need to never never be negative even when being negative is being truthful. Needless to say, kissing ass at Merck will always get you much farther ahead than being truthful will. Like I was told by an old-timer years ago, show me a truthful rep and I'l show you a former rep. I didn't know what he meant at the time since I was still in training, but I learned quickly when I encountered so many physicians that wouldn't see me but regularly "saw" my predecessor.

Personal selling is well, based on personal relationship. Merck these days may not see it this way. If you have called on a physician since his residency days and now it is, say 10 years later, your friendship is different. If you are any good, you know a lot about each other. So it may be true that the customer decided now the former rep is gone, he does not want to waste his time to get to know you anymore and become a no-see doc.
