I get- dog eat dog work- kill or be killed- survival of the fittest BUT I am appalled at how everyone is knocking each other down.

I have been around a long time and will gladly take someone down by many a method- but only to their face. This is a nerve racking time for all of us. Some have been smart enough to see the writing on the wall for a few years now and have taken some measure- BRAVO!! For the majority it's easy to get complacent and wait for doomsday. This job does weaken your skills and has a major effect on your self worth. This is why we get these lovely golden handcuffs.

I know no one wants to help each other out but no need to make dumb ass comments to everyone who posts. I love the funny ones but really... no need to knock people down. As much as I want to make some raging comments to many morons who post- it does no good.

It's planning time- the odds don't look good for keeping your job- and quite frankly- I don't know if I really want it.

Spoke to a recruiter this week (a hundred resumes to get two calls) and she advised me how many recruiters are shutting down because there are no jobs to fill. Some are changing careers in who they recruit and they are scrambling. Companies are paying 25-50% less today than just two years ago. The entire industry is shot and it's just a matter of time. Maybe a few more years for some of us if we bounce around but the companies or government will catch up with us and we will be gone soon.

I wish those golden handcuffs could be used in the bedroom- at least it would be somewhat fun- but these are not the fun kind. They are crippling. What are you doing to better yourself for the next 20-35 years. What's the next path?

The average American now has 6 career changes in a lifetime- so don't free my fellow spank monkies- I am on my 3rd so I have 3 more to go.... it's a wave- get on your board and ride it in....

Screw you Novartis- but I don't feel that way about my colleagues... (managers are a different story).

So no need to help each other but no need to badger... Good Luck to all and I hope they would just do it already ...
