BMS wanted to sell this product with relationships with derms. They didn’t want the Orencia team who had experience selling against the JAKS.

no one sold Orencia to anyone

as for our launch, the reality is we can get two patient types

1-train wrecks who have failed MTX, Otezla and multiple biologics and are eligible to get through the PA - not a population we want to make our history with

2-patients who have exhausted their Skyrizi, Cosentyx, etc out of pocket limit because they are in a copay maximizer plan - these won't produce any revenue

Sure, we are sucking all the oxygen out of the room with all our speaker programs, ad-boards, and regional marketing "interactions" but the needle simply cannot be moved until we have access.

bottom line, we have all the known whores lined up to speak for us and downplay the AEs, but they are known whores. we need access.

We needed people who could break free from the BMY culture of activity over performance, thus the Orencia team was not considered. The problem is that the culture of activity creep in. Marni fought it and was canned when her old NVS boss decided to embrace it. Now, we have a bunch of "experienced" derm personnel who only know how to sell when they have unlimited or preferred access. This come from years of selling Humira, Enbrel, Cosentyx, etc. Problem is they don't know how to sell when access isn't perfect so they are defaulting to loading up bridge cases to appease their masters.

Activity over performance? Wtf? Orencia team went from 1 billion to 2 billion in 5 years. That’s with mostly double step edits.
 












Orencia had a giant price increase at the beginning of the year. Misleading to say that use has increased. However, it is true that the drug on its own did capitalize on the fact that nobody wants to use a JAK anymore. So, good luck selling your JAK. You can go roleplay that in your 2023 relaunch.

Yeah...by itself it doubled. Maybe it's because the patient type that was focused in on for about 3 years was actually successful and now rheums are bought in. Oh wait that doesn't fit into your narrative..does it. Additionally, why don't you talk about 2021 changes to access here? Wasn't unblending an issue that impacted sales?
