$1000

Was hoping for some feedback on this one. First, I think it was VERY cool of the $1000 payout if we hit the $200M mark.

However, since we came up short--but still blew out our goals for the year.....Wouldn't it have been a good morale jesture to pay out SOMETHING ($100, $200, Kowa Cash, etc)?

While I understand the all-or-nothing philosophy and it was clear that's what it would be....I still think that it would/would be a good move. Afterall, it's not like we are making a ton of money (understatement). :)

Thoughts?

I agree something would be nice, but I'd change it for news of an improved IC plan! Preferably one that allows low volume territories to have a chance to earn a living.

Really...you actually believed them when they said we would get that bonus?? That sounded to me like a bs ploy to push people the last few months of the year. I wasn't ever banking on seeing that money. Instead they will commend their vacation policy and the "extra" days we get off at Christmas. One thing Kowa will never understand is how to be competitive with other companies but a 50% turnover should be their first signal on how to learn.

Apparently things haven't changed much at Kowa since I left. They don't do anything about the absurdly high turnover rate because they don't care. The last time there was a decent comp plan was nearly 3 years ago. They still think they are in a good position because there are thousands of laid off, unemployed pharma reps out there who are desperate enough to take a lower paying job, and temporarily put up with Kowa crap, to tide them over. Aside from a few people, I don't miss that job and I'm glad I left when I did.

I know I know....Maybe naively so.
I do think (maybe naively so again!) that the new IC plan will be better this coming year and not just reward the same few people every month.
I also agree the turnover is crazy!

I agree - I left about 2 years ago and never looked back. Had zero respect for the company and most of the peiople there. I had a low volume territory and did everything short of paying MDs to write my two piss-ass drugs. They would not write it for all the obvious reasons. My poor excuse for a manager tried to apply pressure and put me on "plan" after his tactics got me banned from three of my highest potential writers. What a joke. I was one of the desperate ones that took this job to hold me over for a year or so, so it did work out in that respect. I got away from pharma completely and am very happy I did. Have a little respect for yourself and get out of there.

I could not agree more! While there may be some good people left at Kowa, the company - and Pharma in general - is going nowhere fast. Unless Kowa has some miracle first/best in class drug up their sleeve, they are a sinking ship with no life boat, and everyone is just along for the ride. If you're not at least casually looking for another opportunity, preferably outside of pharma, then you are only doing yourself a disservice. I hate to see good people blindly staying on the deck of the Titanic, playing the farewell song while she sinks into the abyss....And if you're hanging on thinking things are going to change for the better, good luck with that!

I know, I know, I left yesterday, but coming back i miss Kowa! NOT

Kowa focuses its energy on paying for past performance. who cares if you can grow your business at all...if you have high volume you will win...everyone else gets hosed.
