New Leadership (VP level)

Hi,

I just want to start by saying this thread list is nice but I want to get candid feedback from current employees.

there has been quite a few VPs hired over the last 6 months. I have noticed the quality of the hires experience and/or level of intellect or relevance to the industry seems to be lacking. I know Baxter is not the best company to pick from if you are sought after talent with options to pick from but without calling out names - I have come across quite a lot of VPs (new ones) that are simply more of a director type. Is HR and senior leadership just picking people who are desperate and do not demand a lot of salary? Problem I see is these very VPs are tail end of their career and making bad decisions or just piling on to the lack of discipline or process improvement. They are just saying yes to their leaders and not challenging status quo.

Not just VPs my friend. Look above and below as well. Entire "leadership" spans that are filled with cluelessness, incompetence, laziness, and maybe worst of all, inflated egos that refuse to be challenged or critiqued. This is Joe's team ... bunch of yes men with toxic personalities. Gone are the days of developing actual talent from within over time. Now were stuck with outside hires with questionable experience and competencies or promotions of incapable suck-ups and yes men that refuse to challenge the "leadership" and the terrible decisions being made around here lately.

100% this, its the whole company. The company is rotten due to out of touch leadership and poor salaries. I'm embarrased that I work here, but a lot of people still here are nearly at retirement age. We are literally getting the people who have no other options, and it shows in the work that is being done.

People should be fired, and a class action lawsuit should be filed against Low Joe for his negligence with the company.

I am a VP, i hate it , i report to a President , i only stay for my shares , and im hoping it get a package and leave, Joe is a man child, cant debate anything always has to be right, i was hoping to get a package this week but alas they have let others go around me .

The problem with this is i have ZERO motivation, others who i trust tell me the same we are all in waiting game for the next iteration of Baxter. Alot of rumours we are being shopped around for post vantive split, possible suitors are BD, Medtronic and their are some rumours of PE firms. I heard Joe say recently he wants to get back to tuck in acquistions, what a joke every acquistion he has purchased has been a dog, and HR was the DOG that almost bankrupted us .

I really want a package so once the money is in my account i can ring Joe and tell him how incompetent he has performed , i have no fear of him once i'm only a shareholder, but at the moment he can kick me to the curb with nothing . As long as Joe stays here we will be rotting from the inside as he is a hated man even here in Deerfield with his supposed confidents. the European VPs well they have a visceral hatred of him, APAC and LATAM VPs kiss his ass.

Baxter will be sold to a company that did not want the renal cancer…
If you are a VP and have been buying shares then you are fooled and need to keep those until they go up again and make a profit…
I suppose you received good package of equities but those are all negative for now and depending on your age you may lose everything that has not vested once you go…
For the rest I agree… the place is a dumpster but surely won’t get better… the technology we sell has become commodity and we are so far now from what the market or states want from a healthcare perspective…
I just wish it does not explode like Enron…

Exactly this. Nobody has any motivation anymore, and people simply don't care and have stopped trying. And why should they?

Leadership is toxic and incompetent. Zero strategic direction. Constant changes in reporting structure and organization. Terrible communication. Never-ending hiring, travel and spending freezes. Frequent tasks to decrease approved budgets. No innovation. No accountability. Poor compensation, bonuses and stock rewards tied to shitty metrics that can be manipulated and are prone to being impacted by poor strategic decision making at the top. Career development here is a joke. No recognition or rewards for wins, but getting hammered for failures often caused by decisions by leaders. Did I mention no accountability?

Umm…travel freeze? Unless it is mission critical, regulatory/quality, sales/support or compliance related. But I ran some reports recently and we have so many “senior leaders” traveling a lot starting March. There was a big uptick also in January…you know why? To make the status for United airlines and deadlines end of month

I agree, no accountability at all. People get off on throwing others under the bus on calls with multiple people making it awkward for everyone. Direction changes so often, it feels like the work being done is just "busy work" because who knows if it will go anywhere. There is absolutely no career development. The personalities as you work your way up are those of high-schoolers who will spin words and conversations to make themselves look superior to you for no reason. I've never worked with a more miserable group of individuals.
