Really feels like we are becoming the sales team in medical. Medical leadership focusing on reach and frequency and proactive engagement. Could be problems for Pfizer Oncology in the future if this continues. I don't think it's ethical for medical teams to be proactive likes sales organizations. Really seems that's what's going on. Pfizer Leadership needs to have a serious discussion with Oncology Medical Leadership to protect Pfizer. We are not salespeople and should only be engaging in a reactive way. I have no desire to help with business, I only want to educate. Am I wrong?

Yes you are more wrong than right. If you don’t want a commercial role then go back to practicing medicine. We spend a lot of dough to support medical, you gotta pull some weight. Obviously there are potential compliance related obstacles to be aware of, but to think you are only expected to perform in a “reactive way” is really very short sighted. This is a business.

Completely wrong !!! As said go back practicing medicine or sit in either a hospital or retail pharmacy! LOL, you work for a commercial organization and while it might be demeaning with such high clout you must think you have, but hate to break it to you, You are selling! Now, stop being a mooch and cater your own food! Now go sell something!

This isn’t only oncology . Across the board medical will be more like this .
Always remember that medical rolls up into biopharma . Before there was recognized value that medical does something more , something valued by customers. This is all gone now. Medical will be measured and deployed to bombard and destroy customer relationships … all in the guise of adding value

There really isn’t much sense in having medical because frankly most of the people on that side have the attitude of the original poster. They really don’t understand the commercial part of this business. I’m not saying there’s not a need for some medical support however they really don’t want to engage in a way that is actually productive on a day-to-day basis.

Sales makes appointments for Medical, sales makes appointments for the worthless KAMs.

At least medical has impact. KAMs are as worthless as tits on a boar. My customers still have no idea what KAMs want them to do. KAMs are worth approximately FUCK ALL to the business.

Yeah the KAM role really should be absorbed into a rep position that has IHS/Institution responsibility. Supposedly their above brand, no quota, gives them advanced flexibility to do things above and beyond what a “”normal” rep can do. Still waiting on the impact a decade later….

What is happening in Medical is an extension of the degree of desperation the company finds itself. Everyone needs to sell in order to keep the boat floating. Ultimately, it will backfire and cause more damage in the long run.

There is none. No other major company has this worthless role.
