How many are hoping to be let go?

ummmmmmmmmmm, i am guessing about 99.99% of us.

Careful what you wish for, and please don't speak for others!! If this does happen to you, I guarantee you, you will be very sorry. The old grass is greener analogy could never be more true than right now in this industry and in just about every other industry in this economy. You will find yourself on unemployment that will not be enough to even survive, you will be shocked by the cost of healthcare, you will be amazed at how few jobs are available on the market, especially for people who have bad attitudes. You will wake up with night terrors realizing that much of what is happening is completely out of your control and you will wind up taking any job you can get just to feed your family. Oh and you will have to buy your own car, pay for your own gas and insurance, and pray that nothing major happens to your car, because you will not have the money to pay for it. Hopefully you will find a way to pay your mortgage so you don't lose your home.I am very appreciative of my job here and thank God every day that I have it.

I hate you, but you're right

Not if you have talent...

Some people have been responsible with their money and have known what has been coming for time....they have been frugal and paid off their houses, cars, etc... Those that have, have nothing to fear! It's the people that think that with big money they were intitaled to everything and that continued to buy big ticket items and still continue to live paycheck to paycheck that will be on trouble if layoffs happen! Believe me, CC is just the beginning if you listened to LC's speech!

My insurance premiums are less than they were with Eisai...I spend less on healthcare for my family than I did before, my salary is comparable, I am not in this silly career that is not based on reality, I am much less stressed and I am moving forward in a career that will provide me with more options in the future. It is understandable that some areas of the country and some people's situations would be difficult. But to be honest, many people in this industry have had their world handed to them and it is difficult coming to the reality that it will be necessary to spend some energy and grunt work to figure out what to do next.

I agree. Everyone I know who has left Eisai, either by securing new employment or by termination, is happier. Even the ones who have experienced unemployment only went a few months unemployed. Many are making less than they did when they worked for Eisai, but everyone is happier and absolutely would not want to be working for this company now. When you account for the company's cutting back on bene's and IC, the stressful company culture, the insecurity, and the lack of advancement opportunities, is this place really worth it? Most do not believe so.

OK Mr. Judgemental, Old Man, some people have not been in the industry long enough to do what you suggested. Think back to your younger days, when you were starting out.

Is anyone hoping for severance and a quick out of Eisai?

I didn't realize anyone was actually handcuffed to this company. This is an at-will company. You can leave anytime. Oh wait, no other company wants you. You've applied at least a hundred times without a single call back. Your pissed because reality is setting in - you could easily be replaced by someone just out of college making a fraction of what you make. To top it off, they would be far better at the job than you. So you complain on this site. Sorry but truth hurts.

Your lack of sensitivity and empathy towards others is shameful. I can only hope that the one that is subjected to 'no other company wanting you' and 'reality setting in that you will be replaced by someone younger and more effective' is you. People like you deserve painful lessons of life. I hope you get them.

for those of who are older or who have more years in pharma , the job market is horrible and most companies do not want you.. Know of 3 -4 other reps laid off in the last 1-2 years who have not found jobs.
here is the unfortunate truth
If you are over 45 , you have almost no chance of finding another pharma job, even at 40 most companies do not want you

if you have over 10 years in pharma , you are also very undesirable. 15-20 years in pharma and recruiters and companies will avoid you as if you had a rare contagious disease.
if you have 5 years in pharma, you will be rehired easily even if you sucked or were lazy

If your former manager gets hired somewhere and he/she like you , then you will be hired over most others , even if you are a lot less qualified.

Know two colleagues from Eisai who are close to 50 who have not found another job, yes , even with numerous nightingale trips.
If you are in the undesirable group- over 10 years in pharma or over 40- god help you!

To PP: I don't think it is so much talent as much as knowing where to look.

This only counts if you are 25-35 and have less than 10 years in pharma. Otherwies this does not count. I recently found work, but was turned down at other companies even though I was recruited by the DM . however, in two cases the RD or VP told the DM that I was "too old" and had "too much" experience. I was not hired even though i had networked and my ex-DM wanted to hire me. Those of you who have over 10 years of pharma and over 40 need to start looking NOW!! do not wait. And I forgot , if you are unemployed, you have severly decreased your chances.

Well who the hell is so stupid as to keep looking for another job in Pharma??? Duh, the industry is DEAD! In case you have ben under a rock for the last 5 years- there are no jobs left in this industry.
The smart ones are re-training and educating themselves in another career/industry. Yes, if you keep going to a vegatarian restaurant and ordering Pork- you will be continually turned down.
The stupidy of the sales force is astounding.

What an idiotic analogy to make a point. You're the stupid one.

I am glad you are so smart! But for many of us who are not so smart, we are too old to make a significant change- and not because we don't want to but because most employers are not interested. For your information, most industries do not want older job candidates. Know a friend who did what you recommended, went to law school and graduated. Only problem , he is 47 years old, none of the firms will even look at him. Actually , makes about what he would have made as a vntiv contract rep.
So if you are 30 years old, you can easily make a change. however, for those of us who are o"old " (over 40) stupid, we are still trying to stay in this crap industry. Also , have a buddy who tried to get in to PA school, still waiting. The big problem is he is 44 years old. The schools want him to basically "start over" like a freshman in school for the most part.
