I'm a NeuroPsych rep. Got an offer about a week ago to jump ship. They did background check and the manager took back offer because she said I lied about being a NeuroPsych rep??? Apparently when HireRight calls NVS and ask for title they say you are Primary Care NOT NeuroPsych. Unbelievable! I mean how can they do this? Isn't NeuroPsych supposed to be NeuroPsych? I mostly call on Psychs and Neuros. Wtf?

Hmmm NeuroPsych post February 2014 IS Primary Care dude. It is no longer specialty. Deal with it!

So what you're saying is Novartis has essentially enslaved you? Restraint of trade, doctrine of fair commerce, cruel and unusual punishment.

Pick one or two causes of action get an attorney and sue their fukkin pants off. Then you can leave with a bucket of Swiss francs.

I am surprised! Typically the actual background check is done by someone outside the US, like India. They don't even really care about their job and just check boxes.

Not true at all dude. Certiphi and Hire Right areUS based. They check titles, dates of employment and salary. Why would you lie and say you are NeuroPsych OP. In February they ceased to exist. It's the title you are now which is Primary Care.

Yes, these companies are US-based. BUT, they outsource the people who make the phone calls to do the background checks to India or another country. So the person who actually makes the call is typically calling from outside the US (just like Indian call centers) and they typically don't work very hard to check background. They often do minimal work and only try one time to contact references.

The big companies that hire these firms have no clue they are being taken to the cleaners!

Therefore, I would ask for a re-verification from someone in the US who actually knows how to ask the right questions and better understand your background.

Yep, found this on another message board about outsourcing:

HireRight, Inc has been outsourcing employment verifications for years. Most applicants are completely unaware of this fact, as their personal information (inclusive of finanicial info) is being sent to the Philippines. In this present economy, this is nothing short of unpatriotic. In addition, foreigners do not have a sense our way of life. This leads to many highly irritated former employers who are reluctant to provide employment verifications. Sadly, I worked there for years. If I were to be in need of a background screening firm, this would be my LAST choice.

This is such bull shit. The U.K is passing laws so this can'thhappen. This practice is suppress ing wages. And getting people to drop out of the work place. This places a burden on the tax payer. Increases food stamps etc. I have a friend that almost lost his job as a tug boat captain when the boat enter ed Canada. He had a dui arrest 15 years ago.. got off got sober and worked his way up to capt. He has nt had drink in 15 years and his company almost fired him for not disclosing arrest on his application 15 years ago.

I'm calling bullsheetz on that claim. Maybe he thought he was a captain when in reality he was

"The Little Man in the Boat".

You guys are such inconstant / hypocritical morons. The company that you work for screws the US healthcare consumer making them pay twice as much for the same drug as the rest of the world, doesn't pay US taxes and doesn't manufacture anything here but when they choose to outsource the their background checks to freakout. Pathetic.

it seems that as long as it it to your own personal dvantage, fuuk everyone else.

Keep in mind these Indians are busy doing Dell technical support when they're not doing these services of employment checks. Then they have sandwiches at New Delhi, try the corned beef on rye with mustard

Reading through the thread above, it looks like HireRight is bad news! I wonder if Novartis and the other companies that use them are aware that a low level person in a 3rd world country who barely speaks English is making the verification calls! I'll bet HireRight never discloses this.

Novartis is well aware of the risks of using low talent level individuals on important tasks. For example, due to the risk that the IQ most Reps would make Forrest Gump look like a genius, they restrict many of their reps to reading off of scripts.

I agree in part. Officially, we are Primary Care Specialists.
However, the BS part about the whole thing is that when Novartis advertises the positions they still put NeuroPsych Sales Specialist on the job description. Check it out. There are two positions up there right now. Should be consistent. It isn't right to advertise it one way then switch it up when giving the official title because it does make a difference. If I was the OP, I would print out the job posting and show it to your new hiring manager to show them that Novartis does still consider this a NeuroPsych position and it is just an internal job description that lumps you in with primary care.

Why are the NeuroPsych survivors and the new NP reps no longer considered specialty? Why are they Primary Care if they call on Neuros and Psychs? I'm sorry but I am one of those externals that just applied for one if the open NeuroPsych roles. Is the pay primary care? Or is it considered Primary Care because I also would call on PCPs?

Long story. The old NeuroPsych division used to have its own BU, called Specialty. In late 2013 they were rolled into Established Meds but remained somewhat autonomous and were still specialty meaning they only called on Psychs, Neurologists and Psych Hospitals. In Feb 2014 we had a huge layoff so basically NeuroPsych ceased to be. The ones who made this cut of which only like 15% did, were rolled into Established Medicines and most had new ABLs from Primary Care. Their territories are huge and mostly call on specialists still BUT they also call on PCPs. They are no longer considered specialty in title. Their official title is Primary Care.

If you come over to "NeuroPsych" now you will be considered Primary Care. You will be under the BU called Established Medicines which is the absolute bottom of the pile at Novartis. And you will be finished in 6-8 months once EP and Fanapt run out of protection, if not before. Specialty at NVS by the way is something like Oncology, MS or the new Biologic/Derm division. IHC with the Serelaxin debacle technically is also but that is a whole novel worthy of a thread on its own. Good luck and do not let recruiters tell you otherwise.

Thank you for your help. When exactly does EP and Fanapt run out of protection?

There is talk that they may give the specialty title back since Primary Care doesn't really fit what we do. I can promise you that on my resume it says neuropsych and I will use the job description that they still post to back it up. The only way it is primary care is that it now falls under that business umbrella because there really aren't enough reps to have a separate division anymore. There really isn't much calling on primary care though. It is neuro and psych.
I'm not totally in agreement that we are gone after EP and Fanapt lose protection. There is the possibility of getting laid off but there is also a new cv drug that may be assigned to us but who knows. I probably wouldn't leave something great to take this but if you aren't working, go for it.

Get your head out of the sand, you will not be "assigned" any new drug. Any new drug that will be launched will go to external candidates. Both EP and Fanapt will be long gone before the new cv drug comes to market anyway.
