You who visit but say nothig, don't you wonder how come this person dares write these things about "our beloved copany and biz"? Is it true what he is saying? Does he not risk losing his job if he still works for the outfit and/or in biz? Would he/she dare say these things in main stream media? And so on. Well all these questions are legit and have merit but only the ones re the truth and would he/she dare write in main stream media are deserving explanation.
Well about the truth? If you doubt if this is really so and you work for this Co, then you are one of those reps/employees that simply does not see, hear or want to know what is going on in reality. You go along and don't question any order by your bosses. they give you a detail aid with fake pages, you go and use them and so on. After all you have a job to protect. On the other hand this writer has no such an issue and even when it was the case, the rebellion was already brewing, for he/she had enough with supporting what amounted to support of criminal activity and organizaton. During those days the evidence was plentiful and easily found and filed. Not anymore and that too maybe a reason why you do not see the same violations taking place.
As to mainstream media issue, it too is quite simple. For now that is not necessary. And if it does happen the evidence of wrongdoing is so strong that no one can do anything to dispute it and they may not even want to in the first place, for it may make it even worse. Besides, did you know that in this country, if you disclose some things about someone that are looking offensive and slanderous, but IT IS TRUE and you HAVE THE EVIDENCE, that someone can not sue you or if they do they will lose for sure. Say these thigs here are published in The Star, for instance. Your co does not like it and goes on to sue the paper and the person disclosing it. The irrefutable evidence in forms of e-mails, letters, documents, fake detailaids, doctors names who got funds under DIF, copies of cheques issued to docs etc. etc. that prove things were done and they happened, would just blow the air from the law suit and then the hell would break lose. The smart money would STFU and take it. The smarter money would have resolved this issue by doing the right thing when there was still time. Lost opportunity never comes back.

 

Sure our legal system is easy on the white collar criminals or as someone calls it Organized Corporate Criminals. Case in point today's sentencing of Drabinsky and his partner both convicted criminals. Only 7 and 6 years of which they will serve 1/6th and be out on parole. If they ever get in that is. Both out on bail and will appeal which may take years to resolve. They already dragged it for 10 years befor it got to court. As a journalist said, their case of fraud happened before Enron, Worldcom, Madoff, Lord Black and jet Drab managed to stay out for all those years and will cont. This is what we have in terms of justice for WCC/OCC and this is why your company and its bosses don't worry about being caught and even less being convicted. In USA things are different and at least they have the laws with teeth. Our own Lord got thrown in jail and IS in there while appealing.
So chances to get them directly are not very good for now. What is being done, an effort to change the laws so that we too have stronger ones to get the OCC. The antics of your Co and the evidence of it would be a great help to show how one of the biggest and "reputable" is doing illegal stuff, while pretending to be socially responsible and yadda, yadda, yadda.
That is the way to do it and the climate is just about right for our population just about had enough of these corporate wiseguys. Just go to Torornto Star and see the comments re Drab. Not one,( OK maybe one) person came out to support this major crook. What does it tell you? Would they support a law to clean up corporate bighpharma crime? Sure they would but someone must do the hard work. An it is being done and done well.

IS THIS POSSIBLE? Harper, neocon, rightwing, pro-biz at any cost government to introduce tough and so far the only good law against the white colar criminals, the members of the OCC. To those who don't know what OCC is, it stands for Organized Corporate Crime. Many of your bosses and some of you are also members of this sorry club.
This is a modest but good begining. Many times it was said here that Canada has no good laws as USA has against OCC and especially bigpharma that does all kinds of criminal, unethical and generally illegal activity with complete impunity. No wonder they do and did it. No laws to prosecute them and no laws to properly punish them.
What we will work on is a intro of the law that is similar to FCA in USA. That law works very well against the crime in bigpharma biz and those who help bring them to justice also benefit by getting a decent % of fines paid by these bigtime crooks. Gulf veteran John Kopchinski who exposed Pfizer (again them) that paid 2.3 billion in fines, made $51.5 millions in reward for doing it. Would you whistleblow on your Co if you could benefit to such an extent? Of course you would for you would never have to work again and you'd do a great favor to your country and health care system.
Just think about the Diovantage series (now renamed) and how much your Co defrauded our provincial health care systems. Most likely they sold over 200 million extra Diovan as result. In USA they would be fined to pay at least 200, maybe even 500 million in fines. Your % would be at least 5%. Do the math.
As you see things are happening and it is not likely that your Co along with other members of OCC/Bigpharma would get away this time.

Are you good or bad people? Let me ask you. Have you ever questioned, criticized or objected to your company's marketing/sales strategies and/or activities? For instance you get a memo or email from, say Diovan product manager re next cycle's promotional strategy and tactics. In it he tells you what you'll be doing in terms of pushing features and advantages of Diovan and what indications you will promote. You noticed that he is asking you to promote HF, cardioprotection, renal protection and selectivity that is highest amongst the ARBs. Fine but you also know that your drug is indicated and approved ONLY for mild to moderate BP after the standard initial therapy has failed so Dio can be introduced as add on or alternative. Are you confused at this time or you know that this is a routine way for your product manager to blend in the unapproved indications into promotion along with approved one? If you are confused or if you don't agree with the product manager to go out and break the federal laws and promote the drug out of label, would you question the reasoning behind his strategy for next cycle?
Say you send him a response to his email asking him why he is including indications that are NOT in product monograph because they are NOT approved by HPB. If you had the inclination and guts to do it, this is what would happen:
He would respond to your questioning by saying that you must never promote Diovan for any other indication that is not approved by HPB, while completely ignoring your claim that he asked you to do this in his memo to you (and all other reps) in the first place. Why? It is the policy of your co's management that they NEVER admit any wrongdoing while they do it under and with approval of top management. They just ignore your claim and questions and tell you what the law is. This to cover their ass and avoid any trouble that you may cause. What would happen to you? Simple. You'd be targeted for eventual dismissal without anyne talking to you about your questioning company's way of doing biz. In other words you are no longer a "team" player for you don't go along with company promotional culture that is a mix of legal and illegal ways of doing biz.
So if you are a "good" people you most likely will not be able to go on for too long, for sooner or later you will question or criticize one of many players who will ask you to break the federal health Canada laws.

Of course you don't care for your Co to get exposed and brought to justice for all the unethical and illegal stuff they have done in the last 2-3 decades. However there are literally millions who whenever the bigpharma is mentioned to them they swear or spit or both for they are so disgusted with you. Not even oil, car, aluminum siding, banks and used car dealers come even cose to the nausea these good cinizens of this country, feel when the bigpharma is mentioned to them. They know you are as crooked as any of the Wall street bankers who caused all the mess we have to clean up. The difference is that you still have not been exposed and caught because the law is weak and is still not looking at you. All right, so you don't question your bosses or god forbid criticize when it comes to illegal stuff. Maybe you are not even aware how they give you these illegal orders along with illegal material like the one marked "For training purposes only" or something like that. Here is a real life example from your Co and see if you can guess who is involved.
This guy, a "director" (at the time when your company was handing out titles like candy) of local specialty force had a very interesting, better put bizarre shtick when opening his meetings with reps. He'd put on a series of slides dealing with "values" like; integrity, honesty, dedication, true values, and so on, you get the point. The whole thing would look more like a religious sermon than biz meeting, but that was his way of "motivating" his reps and showing how "proper" he was etc. etc. While doing it he woud project this aura of omnipotence and piety. The true Pope in the making. However, once the meeting started in ernest, he turned into a mafia don, ploting all kinds of alternative/illegal/unethical ways for reps to get those extra sales.
At one time, we were told, there was this "Investment Fund" for one of your drugs that was about paying top specialists big money (5-25K) for increase in their use of that drug to the tune of up to 5 times the bribe they take. He had no hesitations to issue orders for reps to ask the docs in advance for their agreement with the "deal". Like, "Doc we'll give you 10K for you to use as you like, but you must Rx 50K of our drug on top what you usually do". No agreement no money the reps were told to make sure docs understood.
Yes, some integrity, honesty, piety,.......

"Yes, we had an Investment Fund for a drug we pushed for BP and few unapproved indications. It was a brain child of a marketing genious JC (or was her name CJ) who came up with it and had it approved by the very top. It involved 2-3 millions that we placed as an investment into top spec. offices with amounts of up to 25K. For this investment we told docs in uncertain terms that they had to Rx the drug in amounts of up to 5 times the amount of investments they took. So what is wrong with that? Can we not invest our monies the way we see fit? And why should not we pay docs to Rx our drugs? You call it bribe we call it investment that gives good ROI. No doctors complained, in fact they just loved it. We heard of only one doctor in the whole country who refused to do it. What a stupid thing to do? So by investing (not bribing) over 2 million this way we generated at least 10 million in new sales (you may call it; new bought/bribed biz) that year. Since those patients who were put on the drug continue to take it till the "end" (at least most ) over the next say ten years we'll have generated at least 60-100 million in sales from our original investment. What's wrong with that?"

Ever wondered why is Organized Corp. Crime or as it is popularly called "white collar" crime so widespread and jet so rarely we have the protagonists exposed, prosecuted and sentanced to long and deserving prison terms? Yes, lack of laws and laws with no teeth (if you steal loaf of bread and get caught we have very good and brutal laws to put you in prison for good few years) are one of the reasons. But more importan reason is our general attitude toward OCC/WCC. You reading this at this moment, have as much potential to become one of them OCC and those who already are doing it. Also you tend to look the other way for you think as we all do or almost all do, that OCC or WCC is just a mild form of misconduct that all of us are entitled to do if we are up to it. No one gets hurt and you get rewarded with "extra" benefits as a result.
Give us arguments against this if you have any. You don't for you've been doing your bosses' bidding for far to long, knowingly breaking the federal laws regulating promotion of pharmaceuticals. So when you see some WCC outside of bigpharma you would not report it or do anything about it, unless you are one of those cheated, defrauded and vicitimised, as those poor, greedy and stupid who invested with that Jones, ponzi schemer.
Your goverment and politicians are the same. ONLY if something is exposed by others and hits the public, politicians and government may react because they MUST due to public knowledge and pressure. They themselves would not expose it in most cases. The very misconduct of your Co has been tentatively reported to a key member of Parlament, she was delighted to read it and promised all kinds of action. After a while for no reason at all, she just stopped. No contact with whistle blower, no explanation just some vague lies by her secretaries, both of them men.
Therer are still few avenues to be tested and used. Last one is the direct approach of our world famous mounted boys that ostensibly "ALWAYS get their man" or men.
So far, the moral of this story is that we live in a soci-economic system in which OCC and WCC is looked upon as something that does not hurt anyone and although not openly allowed, is highly tolerated and those who do it, benefit big time. Those who don't, majority will not react or report but look the other way for in most cases their jobs depend on "see no evil, hear no evil, tell no evil".

What did I tell you many times. The org. corp. crime is live and well doing their crime on huge scale. Just today, two more Ponzi bastards were exposed and caught and they may be the biggest, so far. It is estimated they as partners defrauded over 400 million from few thousand investors. They had the whole organzation including sales forse with sales reps running around making false claims (like you do when you push your drugs beyond approved indications) and duping the greedy investors out of their easily made cash. That is the essence of Ponzi shemes, greedy investors with lot of easy money. Unfortunately some decent paople also got duped as is usually the case. I also mentioned that those caught so far are just a tip of the proverbial iceberg. This case proves it and look for more to come. Maybe even some of you are involved in one, either as investor or protagonist via some friend etc. Check your investments before it's too late, there are likely hundreds of Ponzi bastards still out there. As there are good number of bigpharmafia cos doing their shit by promoting their grugs beyond approved and necessary for the number of sick we have. This using both legal and illegal means and methods and you are a part of it.
If any of you who read few of the posts here, still have any doubt that there IS a OCC and it does its shameful but lucrative OCC, think it over and look for signs in your own corner of this Co. These signs are everywhere but you may not be able to see them yet or just continue to ignore them and look the other way while doing the bid of those who order you around for the job you keep.
We still don't know how soon the authorities will cast their eyes on bigpharmafia as a biz or individual cos that are so obviously braking all the rules and laws. Yours is one of them and there is a huge amount of hard irrefutable evidence to back this up.
While you were sleeping and sleepwalking through your territory, bribing your docs, making false claims, using false lit and papers etc etc. some of us have collected and filed that evidence. It takes guts and determination on top of intergity and other socially aceptable traits. Do you have them? Your company* certainly does not.

Yesterday in the biz news: A group of powerful and rich biz types in US are under investigation for massive insider's trading. The lead crook (arested) is a billionaire of Tamil origin with India biz connections. he and this group of about 10 made over 20 mill. in insider trading. Some are in big positions with companies like IBM. They were organized corp. crimnals and getting away till now. The US securities againcy has employed the toughest methods to get these bastards. As one said "you have to kill the king, when dealing with billionaires" for they have all kinds of money and connections to fight you.
Well not any more, the authorities are finally taking initiative against this menace to our societies, for they are draining so much from our GDP that belongs to all of us. No wonder we still have so much poverty in this country as well as in USA, for the rich who are mainly crooked are draining undeserved value from us. Only today Ed Broadbend said that if we increased the tax rate on the super rich (about 100K in Canada) from 29% to 35% we could eliminate poverty in very short time in our country. Those rich would not even feel it and jet there is no political will or courage to do it. You and everyone you know would not do any worse, in fact better and those rich that have drained us for centuries, would only come closer to pay what they should. How would you vote on this issue if it were put forward?

 

Do you sell Zometa in Canada? If you do, soon it'll be ordered off the market by the Co or HPB. In the meantime and after there will be lawsuits by patients developing nasty side effects, most likely class action suit. In US, Peggy Stevens successfully sued Novartis and was awarded 3.2 million in damages. More are pending up to 55 in Mont. Peggy is from a small place called Missoula. She develped incurable condition called osteonecrosis of the jaw. Your Co KNOWS and KNEW about high incidents of such side effects and yet did nothing, but hopped this would not show up in mass use of the drug.Playing with ;people's lifes for profit. Not even warning to doctors or patients. You remember Prexige or the one for IBS? The present day management that infested your and other big pharma cos does not care of patients' safety and wellbeing. All they care is about their huge salaries and bonuses with few chicken bones for you and shareholders. Thus the bribing, lying, cheating, defrauding, false claims, cover up of adverse effect etc etc.
In the really good old days of Sandoz, this would not happen. Clozaril is an example of noble action of then great company. When few people developed blood problems in Finland, Sandoz immediately withdrew the drug from the market. On their own. Only years later it was introduced as drug of last use in mental patients with special care for the patients. That too was done under Sandoz, not Novartis crooked management.

Just to ad this: During Sandoz era, you had a prez by the name D. Breski. Long time president and CEO who kept the company ethical and moral. Also the orders coming from Basel were ethical and moral. That because the real Swiss were in charge not the current US brain washed Dr. Vaselle and his lapdogs. The real Swiss are and always have been ethical and morally correct but after the merger and installation of this doctor, everything changed. The word is, you can do anything as long as you don't get caught. Dr. Breski, would never allow Diovan Investment Fund that bribed specialists to the tune of 25.000 if the Rxed the drug to the tune of 3-5 times the bribe received. He would never allow Diovantage series where you paid off doctors to Rx diovan for payment and trip to Florida. The fake Post marketing trial brought in over 100 million extra sales over the last 7 years and that was all paid by provincial drug plans. This still has to be exposed and we hope the government will see it for what it was and is, fraud aginst all Canadians. Three other companies did the same so they will be included too.
Other misconducts that you are ordered to do, like false claims, use of fake literature not approved by PAAB etc etc. would never see the light under Dr. Breski, but are routine under current and several past CEOs like that Dutchman who used to pace like general Patton on the stage while issuing illegal orders.
Some of you always knew that illegal/criminal activity was part of your Co's MO but did nothing. Others, the newbies don't know a thing for they think this is completely "normal" business practice/dealing and don't question anythig thrown at them by the wiseguys. How long you think you'll be able to do it? Till your co gets exposed or till you break down mentaly as result of pressures by the Co and/or by the fact that every day you go out there pushing their pills you break the laws of this country?
