If any of your are job hunting and come across a company called CIRCLE HEALTHCARE which looks like a recruiting firm DON'T APPLY. They are currently advertising on Career Builder. The ad appears very legit, the website even appears very legit. I applied just sending my resume. Received an email a day later from a company called Lynx Pharmaceuticals. I knew I hadn't applied to a company of that name so checked out their website which seem like maybe a start up company. I was game. Later I realized it was a fake website. In the email they ask a few general recruiting questions, time available, areas of interest, etc. and ask you to send back. Next they reply with an email saying they only look as reps who have completed this entry level, break into pharma training course via NapsRX. I have 20+ year pharma, really! Was obvious it was a scam. I did some research and figured out that how they got me was by applying to the Circle Healthcare firm that was on Career Builders. The common thread is some guy named Andrew Perry. Some links:

Do yourself a favor and look to other industries - pharma is dying a slow death. Thousands of sales reps have been laid off in recent years and this past year has been record-setting with the amount of companies laying off. This is a very unstable industry - avoid!

Thank you very much for the warning! Of note, I had applied to other similar companies through Indeed, but no "Circle HealthCare" or anything like that; and received an email from Lynx Pharmaceuticals asking to answer more qualifying questions. So there may be some other names involved. Good luck to any and all on their job hunt!

I was considering getting into pharma sales, after etensivee research and this post, I have finally made up my mind to look at other field. I need a stable job as I have a mortgage, so this job that have high lay off and can only stay for about 20 years (apparently people say after 20 years your pay decline, I will be too old to start another firld) is not the best option for me. Can anyone suggest other job in the medical field? I have bachelor science degree biology and 3 years of medical admin and marketing experience.

Smart move! I've been in the industry for 15 years and I'm moving out of it soon - finally! It used to be a decent gig, but that was over 10 years ago. Reality is that Pharma is incredibly volatile and has been for at least a decade. In the mid-2000's there were estimated to be 110,000 pharma reps in the U.S. - today that estimate is around 50,000. There is not a month that goes by that I don't hear of at least one manufacturer doing a layoff, or a CSO having a contract end (often abruptly). Here's some companies that will be having layoffs by the end of the year: Takeda, Shire, Purdue, Astellas, and Daiichi-Sankyo. There will also be CSO's (Syneos, Publicis, Quintiles, etc.) that will have contracts ending at the end of the year, as they always do. These layoffs result in dumping more Pharma reps into an ever-expanding pool of unemployed pharma reps. Many of these reps will not be able to return to the industry, try as they might. There are not enough jobs for them - the supply has out-stripped the demand. There is an over-abundance of experienced pharma reps and it's been this way for some time now. The industry has been moving away from drugs that appeal to the masses and to more specialized and rare disease state drugs - companies do not need large sales forces to sell specialty drugs (in many cases you can have one or two reps covering an entire state). Smaller sales forces are the norm now. Competition is fierce, as it always has been, for the few coveted higher status/higher paid sales positions in the industry: Oncology, Rare Disease, and other specialties. The competition for these opportunities is only going to intensify. The fact is that Pharma is an industry in decline and there will be fewer and fewer opportunities available as the industry shrinks. And, as mentioned, expect the volatility to remain and layoffs to continue. Every pharma rep I know has job security fears either in the forefront of their mind or at the back of their mind - the possibility of layoff is real.
