How's this coming along? Is the Full Potential department actually useful?

You ever watched a functional department try to run a project? Even in a function where project management should be a core competency (ie IS) it’s a disaster.
Pharma can’t survive without transforming itself- if AFP didn’t start in 2014, a year like 2018 would be WAY worse than it is.
Anything cross- functional can’t be handled by anything else right now but AFP- maybe there will be a mechanism in the future to break down the barriers and do what’s right for Amgen, but until that day unfortunately an objective 3rd party (ie AFP) needs to be in place to help. If it wasn’t the RDO it would be expensive consultants.

Like BD, FP.is riddled with cronyism. For example, DCI brought his buddy KW in with no qualifications simply because they were friends and KW was looking for a gig since the Neuroscience department was essentially shutting down in TO. Sad. What other serious job applicants missed out because this buddy system is in place?

Like the island of misfit toys, FP takes the has-beens bidding their time till retirement, but because they are in bed with HR, don't expect a single one to ever be laid off.

It’s a place of corporate exile for those who are being punished by their now former boss or those banished from real work they can’t actually perform and would otherwise be fired at any other company but kept around for busy work (havoc wrecking projects) with hope they’ll break and leave through medical means or luck of a new job. Plus kept around for just in case as too difficult to recruit to TO. It’s geographically irrelevant for international business unless it’s Hollyweird.
