China failed several internal audits but mark Reilly (in typical gsk fashion) blamed the auditors and refused to course correct. When the whistle blower sent a letter to the CET (along with a video of mark in bed with a hooker) twit and co had his back and hired a private investigator to find the whistleblower. Fast forward to the present, mark Reilly received a golden parachute and still has gsk paying for his very expensive legal fees. The twit-bots call this the sk culture

Brits looking after Brits. If this was a US company, no way Twit would have survived. When they had the beauty contest, they stacked the deck. Stout had no chance for many reasons, and Chris didn't have the right passport. So that left Twit as a shoe in and the only candidate the Board would advocate. GSK needs a voice of a different accent. The Brits had their chance and flubbed it all up.

Well, it's a new day and I would say all three would have made a great comedy troupe as the 3 stooges (Witty, Stout, Viehbacher). I would have loved to have been close to the situation when Garnier had each of the three perform a "special project" in order to assess each of the candidates. I'm sure all three candidates had to get knee patches on their pants after a year of groveling and who knows what else.

GSK can do better in 2016. Let's hope Phil Hampton puts forward a great CEO. With the right leadership, GSK could do very well and not need a split.

Never knew Stout but heard he had a long history of HR-related issues related to those of the female persuasion.

Stout and Mark Reilly would have been an HR nightmare.

You forgot the very best part. The whistle blower was the daughter of some high ranking Communist party official. That was what really got them in trouble when they hired the PI to stalk her down.

Reilly WOULD have been a nightmare??? He WAS a nightmare!! Look at how he disgraced the GSK name! He should have been terminated WITH CAUSE.

Yes, all true but this guy "hung" around forever before being shown the door. Anyone else, he would not have lasted 30 seconds. That is Twit's legacy. Now granted, there are reasons he was allowed to stay that likely had to do with the investigation, etc. But for people looking in, here is the chief person named in a scandal and he was allowed to collect that paycheck for what an additional year or 18 months?!?

And tons of good hard working people are being sacrificed at the reorganization plate? Shameful.

The guys in the executive suite play by a different set of rules than you or I. It is a scandal that he was permitted to stay on. Perhaps he was in one of the elite boarding schools with Andrew and these connections allowed him to remain.

Post #93: You are right on! It's amazing how AW was allowed to stay on with this company also long as he has. In the US we have had two downsizings during his tenure. Many good hard working people have lost their jobs, benefits, and dignity. He will continue to collect millions over the next year...millions! He is a lame duck CEO and the board will not allow him to make any major changes to the company. So we are all sitting here doing nothing...While other major pharma companies make big moves. Look ant Pfizer. They get knocked down on the Allergen deal...two months later they go after another company. What will the new CEO do? Will he/she layoff more field reps? Will they go after a smaller company or partner with one? GSK is a mess!
