1. IMPORTANT: In the next few weeks, we will be upgrading the message board software. We expect minimal downtime during the upgrade, and we will attempt to complete this during low-traffic hours. We will post an exact time several days ahead of the switch.

In preparation for the upgrade, we will be performing board maintenance, such as moving boards to Lost Civilizations where appropriate. Lost Civilizations is a category for companies that have either been dissolved or acquired. The boards serve as both an archive of the old company posts, as well as a place for former employees to reminisce or reconnect, as they will remain open for posting. We may also remove some board threads that have been inactive for several years.

These guys claim they do quite a bit of work with KCI and J&J (Ethicon). The environment seems high pressure. Any insight? Do they deliver?

If they rely on KCI, then forget it. Haven't you perused the KCI threads? That place is going DOWN...

My company is aggressively pursuing KCI and suggests that it will be a major future customer of ours. What is going on with KCI?

Relax! KCI is quite successful in spite of one of the most neurotic sales forces ANYWHERE! Not sure how they pull it off, but they ALWAYS do.

One recent possible impact to their $$...Stryker just bought Gaymar industries. Stryker is a long-time competitor, albeit in a non-glamorous product area: beds.

The wound-vac concept continues to bring success for KCI. Go for it! Just bring along plenty of steri-wipes. It is best to decontaminate the devices thoroughly between patients and you'll need to do that.

The word I've heard is that Stryker is either selling Gaymar to Recovercare, or trying to buy Recovercare. What in the hell are they thinking?

Stryker grows the income through acquisitions. The profit may not be rising, but the sales are growing. Most shareholders can't tell the difference!

Fair point, for sure. You'd think if they wanted in that business, they'd buy a better company. Recovercare is a dog.
