Why is the base salary so low? I don't know if a single rep making over 120k in base and bonus at 30k capped is a joke. Genentech, Biogen and Genzyme reps all make 150-180k base and their bonuses start at 40k and go up not including RSUs. Novartis if you Want to Conpeye in MS pay proper wages!!!!

average base for a good MS rep is 170 to 225k and bonus at target exceeds 40k with many exceeding 100k in bonus. Exception is Teva which has a lower base range of 125-150k and of course this shithole where I know for a fact many many reps have bases below 100k and we all know what the bonus is.

    This is total b.s.
Managers maybe, not field reps unless you've been on board many years and have been winning lots of award trips. Even then, 200? B.S.

To put up with the micromanagement the base would need to be over $200k or it's not worth it.

Not really, I left Novartis at 110k and now make 145k as a base. Novartis places no value on its reps and it shows by the huge turnover, bad managers that don't get disciplined, micro management and a toxic culture. I'm so happy I left....

Hmmm very true. I left the MSBU with a base of 105k. My new base at Genzyme was 145k and now I'm close to 160k in base. Novartis pay crap for MS. Any MS company pays minimum 140k base and many make over 200k base. With commissions and RSUs you are looking at 200-300k per year.

Genentech offers had bases in 175 to 200 range for sales reps and 225 to 275 for DMs.

Hmmmm yes they do in MS unless at Novartis. I know of a rep at Genentech with a 185k base and another at 210k both in MS. Biogen bases exceed 170k very often.

If Novartis paid significantly more than the competition it would be expected with the micromanagement. But to pay significantly less and having to deal with overwhelming micromanagement makes it a loser job for people with only primary care experience. If you have MS experience or specialty experience you are a loser if you stay at Novartis in MS

MSBU if you want to compete in the MS space against Biogen, Teva, Genzyme, soon to be Genentech and next year Celgene PAY PROPER WAGES!!!! Average base should be 180k with total comp at 250k that is bare minimum!!!!!

I call bullshit on all of this! Genzyme pays 100-120 on base and bonus of 45. Also, no stock since we are Sanofi now. Don't know about the other companies but it doesn't sound possible for a pharma sales rep to be making a base of 150 in big pharma. Startup biotech maybe, but not big pharma!

Left the Novartis joke last summer, salary was 105 here now at 130 with a competitor, 8k stock sign on , 45k bonus at plan made 67k so far with 1 year being July, manager ride alongs ONCE a quarter, treated with respect, getting a new Ford Explorer as a company car..... oh, how this list goes on. Every time a have a frustrating day I sign on and read this board and realize how good it is elsewhere..... Enjoy your misery if you don't have an escape plan.

Yeah some moron doesnt know what he is talking about. Biogen usually maxes out at 145, Genzyme at 130, Teva at 105, Novartis at 125 (for those that came on with MS experience) 85 for the primary care rejects that switched over and Genentech i heard maxed at 145.
