Dear Shire Family,
Unfortunately I came down with a horrible mystery infection during my Canary Islands vacation. Since I had to take 3 of my 8 sick days, I will be staying here recovering for the remainder of the week. When I return next week, we will look into acquiring a company with a STRONG antibiotic in development to treat patients with the rare mystery infection I acquired. It's been awhile since we've had the opportunity to bully another organization into submission and I need something fun to look forward to.

In the meantime, I encourage each of you to look into getting on your private jets and taking your families on a 2 week beach vacation to the Canary Islands.

I've been reflecting on all the acquisitions over the years...ViroPharma, Dyax, NPS, Baxalta, the list is too long to mention. In fact, it's so long, it kind of reminds me of Pokémon...you know, that game where you try and catch all the funny looking little monsters and then go to battle with others using dirty tricks until they finally relent? I've been playing a lot of Pokémon here on the Canary Islands beach and it's really got me thinking about who we can catch and go to battle with next. More later.
