UBS cuts price target on staff satisfaction reviews

Is it just me or did this place really go downhill after KK got supposedly demoted? Maybe they should consider bringing her back in to sales leadership?
This place donwgraded the minute FO walked in the door with his B&L Bffs KK and Ps. Google them and look at how they've followed each other around for 14 years. They come in, slice and dice , sell off make millions on to the next.

Just you, Good riddens! The two former Gene guys should fix this place up, if they bring over anything from that company we'll be better. They place sounds like it's a unicorn with all the employee satisfaction and benefits they have there vs here. I have a friend that is over there and the perks/benefits are insane

Exactly right. He never stuck around anywhere long enough to be successful, and within a year all the the top talent fled. We are stuck with the dregs and his losers.

Shire disputes employee dissatisfaction report as UBS slashes price target

Shire may have been plenty happy to finally land longtime buyout target Baxalta last year. But since then, its staffers haven’t been quite so pleased.

Parsing 20,000 employee reviews from career website Glassdoor reveals a big slide in employee satisfaction at the company this year, according to a UBS research note seen by Reuters. The Dublin drugmaker now ranks 24th of 26 biopharma companies in the “overall satisfaction” department.

That’s down from 2015 and 2016, when both companies separately ranked just below the middle mark on most staffer satisfaction measures, the news service notes.

“Neither markets nor employees seem as confident as management that things are on track,” UBS said as it cut its 12-month price target to £40.95 per share from £45.

Speaking of management, its ranks have thinned recently with the departures of R&D chief Phil Vickers and CFO Jeff Poulton, the latter of whom announced his exit last week. And while Poulton insisted in an interview with Barron’s that the move was about wanting a change and nothing more—there’s “no smoking gun here,” he said—Jefferies analyst David Steinberg predicted the move would “exacerbate already negative investor sentiment.”

Shire, meanwhile, has done its own surveying of employee happiness levels, and as human resources chief Joanne Cordeiro told Reuters, “our internal engagement marks for Shire are high” despite the Baxalta transition.

“We are focused on working to ensure we continue to build the best organization for our employees, patients and shareholders,” she said.

I read about this in The NY Times and came to this board to see if there was any discussion surrounding it. I am in pharma, not with Shire, and I can't even imagine how toxic your company is that they actually downgraded the stock because of unhappiness with your CEO and senior leadership.

Anyone reading the article could clearly see your HR person was trying to put some sort of positive spin on it by referencing an internal satisfaction survey. I can't imagine anyone believes that. HR can make those internal surveys say whatever they want them to say.

After reading this thread, it's apparent that there is a major problem a Shire. I feel sorry for you all. Try and keep your heads up and hope for some changes.

A new Glassdoor review noting Flemming's direct reports abandoning him:

I worked at Shire full-time (More than a year)

Pros

None I can think of. I didn't do proper due diligence before joining the company and dealing with a nightmare CEO and senior management team.

Cons

Incredibly tone-deaf, self-centered, and greedy management team and Board of Directors. The CEO has made disastrous acquisitions that have led to draconian cost-cutting policies internally. For example, they launched an open office themed office with free snacks, only to remove/reduce those snacks for cost cutting. Corporate travel internally is banned and domestic work travel requires a number of internal approvals. The CEO, however, takes chartered jets from Europe to the states on a weekly basis. Most internal budgets have received haircuts since the Baxalta acquisition and the Head of R&D, Head of HR, CFO, and 6 other direct reports to the CEO have left in the last year. PSA - PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Advice to Management

Please replace yourself with more capable managers

Stunned by the behavior of your CEO. Cut snacks but hire a private jet to commute to and from Europe. That is arrogant.

This review is a mic drop if there ever was one.

Who is Joanne? What happened to Ginger I thought she was the HR chief?
Not too long ago Shire was great you had to go back 2 years to find any cafepharma posts.

One by One they have destroyed each BU with extremely toxic leadership and mgt.

Where are the results?

We don't know who JoAnne is but based on her comments she is a perfect fit with our band of idiots up there. Her quote sounds exactly like something FO PS MR or KC would say....Ginger couldnt deal with those incompetent people anymore and had too much pride and respect for herself to make statements as dumb as the one JoAnne made.

Joanne is a clueless robot who spouts management talking points without thinking for herself. "Our internal engagement marks were high."

Okay, lady, there is a mass exodus of talent, and the stock is at a four-year low while peers are growing in double digits. We believe everything you and Flemming have to say.

Wow

CFO, Head of HR and Head of R&D all gone
Glassdoor surveys very negative view if Shire

There is just no way to put a positive spin on this.

I am crossing my fingers every day that my separation package money gets deposited. With the way things are going, I worry the whole place will implode. I'm so sorry for all of you who are still working there. I hope it gets better, and if it doesn't, I hope you find better spots elsewhere.

when is that supposed to be paid?

Don't worry about the separation money, the second lump sum portion is all deposited 1 month after termination. You would have already received your first payment I am assuming with your last pay check. You signed the contract, the money is yours.
