There is NO REASONING FOR THIS. The in dash navigation is identical to Google maps....it works faster and is easier. While parked put in destination, set phone down in cup holder per second and listen to the prompt....wtf is the big deal???

It's all about being able to track your location more accurately.

Trust me - it is a liability thing. Much like the cell phone use while driving. I get you - entering a destination into your iPhone while stopped and then not picking up your phone while driving is no different than an in- vehicle GPS. Unfortunately the fact of the matter is almost no one (very few) does it that way. Massive lawsuits against Pharma companies are behind this policy.

If they want to track us they can/will - this is by no means the easiest way for them to do it.

all reps use personal phones. Shite can't even locate your iPads because that's invasion of privacy...(told by another rep when she lost hers and couldn't locate it). They damn sure can't track your personal phone.

This is all bull - - - if you know your sales territory, there is NO need for GPS! If you are using GPS to find a store, restaurant or gym on company time, that is not permissible and you should lose your job! Stay focused on the your job responsibilities and you will be fine.

You can't be fucking serious, I've been working the same eyecare territory for years with other companies and I still use GPS for a multitude of reasons. ETA to an office faster way to get there than I'm familiar with etc. STFU KNOW IT ALL

You tool. I use navi on most calls. My territory is huge and spread out. Often using it for restraints where an office has called in a lunch. If I don't have a lunch I'll use my phone or car navi to find a good Mexican place. I'll do what I want when I want and use navigation as I please.

Are you completely clueless? Invasion of privacy ........ wow... sorry I answered my own question. And yes I can absolutely track your IPad any time that I choose to. Receiving a paycheck and receiving Shire property (laptop /IPad / fleet vehicle ) gives us the right to track you and our company equipment. We have no need to track your personal phone - but if you are in an accident while working for us and you were distracted by your personal phone - the Shire is the one at risk for lawsuit .

You do realize Shire employs women as reps, right?

You cannot track an iPad with location services off. My husband works for Apple

It's not that simple sweety.
Have your husband take your IPad and do an analysis. We have so many built in programs into those- they probably won't even detect all of them. MobileIron is the most obvious one but there are plenty more. Why do you think your battery drains so fast? How do you think the updates get "pushed" down automatically?
Memo - we also know when you manually change times entered , modify the clock....etc.
Technology is awesome!
By the way - tell your Hubby he looks good in that Apple shirt at the mall. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar tomorrow.
