Terrible meeting

I worked for Kathy at Merck and am totally dismayed by the negativity of probably one poster. I am happy to be back working with her at Shire. She is a no-nonsense, performance-driven leader. However, she does have a good heart. My advice is to do your job and do it well - - - reason we have a job and pay! So I say to the negative troll - - - go get a life!
2 quick points-
You never denied all the things she does in the post you replied to.

And, how "good" was her heart when she ran good people out of the company and made admins cry in Chesterbrook?

Sorry Turd Troll but you do not know the real truth about Merck. It is amazing that false rumors are still floating around. I bet you were one of the folks that KK fired for expense report fraud!

Or maybe I left B&L or Shire because of VP leadership fraud?

Look, keep trying trying to sway the discussion with your propaganda but the reality is these are not good people. KK and PS have lied, manipulated and cheated people to get their way. I could list numerous examples, even more than what has already been shared here.

You just keep thinking that sweetheart. Just shows your narrow capacity. Probably why you have only worked for these third rate losers. Never successful on your own or without being at other people's expense.

For an interesting read, check out this thread from the past that sheds some light on KK and her first meeting after joining Shire. A disaster from the start.

OMG, WTF!?! What was this company like before? Seriously the meetings will only get worse, always cheap (hence the Saturday arrival). Never ever ever somewhere interesting because PS and KK don't think we can handle ourselves. No Vegas, no NOLA....they will flip btwn FL and AZ and that's it. No free time, no down time. Only after they left did we deviate and actually get to go somewhere new and wear casual clothes (jeans) to meetings.

The meetings in the past with previous leadership were in great locations like NOLA, South Beach and San Fran to name a few and always casual. KK immediately did away with casual dress and put our arses in tight uncomfortable chairs for four hours at a clip. All with a very specific purpose in mind..... to send a message, but for what reason no one knows. Shire was wildly successful in the past. The old meetings were filled with recognition, employee input and gave at least one day where we would end early for a fun activity. There was only one night with an organized dinner and the other nights were free time to socialize with colleagues and enjoy the location you were at. We ALWAYS traveled in on Monday and came home either Thursday afternoon with an office day to organize on Friday or Friday morning the latest. You would actually leave those meetings energized and motivated, especially right before back to school season. "Back to School....." there's another thing these captivating leaders did away with!

Somewhere along the way both KK and PS learned the wrong way to motivate. Hence their poor decisions now. If I didn't laugh about it I would cry.

NOW THAT IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE! That's how the big boys in biotech do it. Genzyme, Genentech, Pharmacyclics, Gilead, Amgen, Celgene, Biogen. Meetings are all like this. You are respected, treated like a human being not cattle, no checking the box. Same in the field, no mandatory call metrics, no mandatory field rides like clockwork. You do your job and get it done, people respect you to run your business and not meddle. We are all adults here.

First, the meeting was great!
Second, budget guidelines determine when you fly and where you meet!
Third, you are paid to work not have an office day.
Fourth, leave the company if you are so dissatisfied - nobody will miss your whining!

LMAO... Which is it, should I leave or am I already a fired troll?

As far as budgets determining meetings, wasn't KK the first to say to Perry and the Home Office that she can help save millions on meetings? Answer: YES, because I heard it. Not realizing of course that a national meeting in Pharma is intended helps build confidence, excitement and morale. So WHO is setting those budgets? Maybe it's FO who sets the budgets and requires you to save money and skimp? I mean how else could he help finance his $18 million raise last year? If that was raise was due to a stellar year, then why not celebrate and show your people appreciation? I know these are all hard questions for you to answer...SMH

Furthermore, last I checked, an office day WAS work and served a purpose to help gather your materials, review your notes, determine any changes to routing as a result of the strategy set at that meeting and to PREPARE! Only a mistrusting micro manager would think that you can't be working if you're not in the field busting down offices. Our leader is too insecure and too stupid to realize that after working your team from Saturday until Friday they will make their own "office day" maybe even a couple. But I can tell you this, those days won't be nearly as productive as if you gave them the office day up front. Get the picture honey?

Why don't you leave and take your morale killing idol with you?

Best post ever!!! This is the truth and I'm glad that someone else echos the same sentiment.
The droves of Valeant folks that came here don't know any better, they had it so bad that just not being there anymore this place is like heaven. However many here know better and know that this place has now become a disaster.
Bring back the casual, fun meetings where we actually got good info, felt like a team, had time to ourselves and felt refreshed and energized and ready to go after!!
These rigid, structured, with too many speeches and general sessions and no free time, dressing up for nobody meetings are exhausting and draining. They are not motivating, we don't feel like going out and working harder we feel drained and demotivated after the condescending and patronizing tone from KK and listening to PS READ his speeches. I know a lot of people that are looking, even new OBU people after that NSM. No joke!
