Synthes Boys Club

What is with this Boys Club culture with Synthes? Manager cannot give well deserving seniors and juniors raises without approval from team leads. It is SUCH a toxic environment to be in right now. Teams are so freaking cutthroat they're attacking and undercutting each other to try to get a one up just in hopes to get a .5% more commission because that's literally the only way to earn more right now.

Looking to switch out of Synthes but stay in JNJ. Any suggestions?

If you're a white mail you might as well head for the exits. In its heyday Synthes was a white male dominated powerhouse. That doesn't fly under the woke credo of JNJ. oday's Synthes in no way resembles its former self. They hire and promote based on color, sexual orientation and old boy practices. They align perfectly with JNJ hiring practices. It's no coincidence they are bleeding market share and a diminished reputation for the knowledge and service level of the sales force. Meanwhile, commission cuts keep coming and JNJ has no intention of paying rich pensions to those who hang on. The most talented have already left or retired. Those contemplating leaving now have no where to go because their specialized skills and expertise are not in high demand. That's why when LinkedIn updates pop up you see career changes like real estate and insurance sales. Very sad, hopefully the saved and invested well during the good years.

Isn’t Synthes one of the biggest MedTech business? How is DPS doing these days. Is it stable? What are your thoughts on DPS management(Sales, Operations, Finance). Do you recommend to join?

Well the pensions and long-term health care benefits just went up in smoke, or said better, a cloud of powder, talcum that is!!! $8.9B settlement for knowingly causing cancer is a small price to pay for the most trusted name in health care. What a disgrace.

Wellllllllllll wasnt Synthes at its best when the sales force was all white and all male??? I think we all know it

They had one African American working there in the 90's ans he was in the Canadian division. A fee women but mostly just WASP males. Gennett and Hansjorg literally had HR field days back then with no ramifications. The good ole days.

Synthes was a disgusting place to work in the 90's. Anything today would be an improvement. The racial bigotry and sexual harassment that went on them was epic. So glad J &J overpaid for Synthes and lined Hansjorgs pockets even more. Terrible job and will never forget the SIMS unit fiasco and the pressure we endured to overstuff inventory into them. Glad many of us moved on.
