Did Baxalta really get stabbed in the back by Shire?

In summary shire did not understand the business they bought. Presumed that they could transfer their pill pushing model into a legit niche business? To be fair, Shire has what appears to be A LOT of reps that are new to the industry (less than 10 years). Baxalta had very small divisions with very tenured and experienced reps. More than a handful are former pharma managers.
The problem with Shire is they try to manage all divisions like they are made up of hundreds of primary care reps. Until they realize metrics actually detract from productivity in bio-tec, it won't get better. Shire needs metrics to validate whatever strategy they have in place. Baxalta would regularly call reps in to meet with senior leadership to talk about what needed to happen to be successful. Reps weren't afraid that their jobs were on the line for disagreeing with something.
Baxalta used consultants sparingly for limited things. Shire uses them far too much and doesn't care what the field input is.
I don't think Shire is going to change their approach. Now it's on us if we stay here.
