So our CFO quit

Senior leaders often leave for entrepreneurial opportunities after they made a sizable amount of money in an established company. The CFO leaving Shire is no big deal! I agree with the poster that the sales force should just concentrate on their job of selling. My God it is none of their business who leaves and who comes on board!

It not the sales teams business? You are an idiot.

The level of ignorance and attempts at lying and spin are pathetic. The company and CFO both stated he is leaving for a start-up, no mention of family. But he's not gong to some cool biotech with an amazing upside- it's a seed company selling "special seeds" like many other ag companies. It is obvious to everyone (obviously including the liars from HQ who are desperately trying to spin this) that this is not even a lateral move but one that shows the CFO was voting with his feet by leaving Shire.

This is not a single event:
- surprise CFO departure
- surprise spin off story floated at Q2
- surprise R&D head departure
- surprise departure of HR head
- surprise departure of Global Commercial Head (GPS)
- franchises all in one another's business with what feels like endless changes
- Baxalta businesses not performing as promised
- Xiiiiidra falling far short of promises
- stock continues to decline
- morale in the field and home office are BOTH at historic lows and skepticism at historic highs, loosing way to many talented team members...(does anyone disagree with this honestly?)

Let's be honest please. At some point one has to ask what the common denominator is...FO. It seems something has to change quick, and I am not suggesting more of the same old same old...something significant has to change.

Any suggestions?

What an idiotic response to a list of documented events that can only be seen as negative. I suggest that FO hire better comms slaves to post less inane responses on CP. It's almost as if FO and his toys are trying to prove they are incompetent. We can all see the low morale, exodus of talent, and the inept leadership that is sinking the company and the stock.

I feel strongly about Shire and have a lot vested in the success of the company. What we are experiencing is not normal and we have concerns! Are you confident in 2017 and the direction we have right now? I am just saying that it needs to get better fast. Do you disagree with that?

All great, accurate points! Have to add, at least for OBU, we have gotten zero communication and stupid one month goals and usually baselines do not come till the NEXT month. What has happened to this company? I heard someone call Shire "Valeant 2.0" I disagreed, but maybe there is some truth to it. Truest sad!

There is a public reason (to work for a start-up) and also likely a private reason (maybe he didn't want to work with FO or other leaders anymore, maybe didn't like the direction Shire was going, maybe Shire is close to being acquired and he knows he wouldn't want to work for the acquirer.)

It is possible that a private reason will be revealed after the Neuro spin off or maybe when we get acquired.

The dirty 30 has disbanded and intentionally distanced themselves from FO.

No surprise that his flunkies PS and KK remain. Other than Shire they have been blackballed by the industry. The litigation against them and the big corporate payouts they cost their employers is well documented in the public domain.

FO, PS and KK are going to ride this Shire gig into the ground. Judging by the free fall in our stock in short time they will be shown the door by the Board of Directors.

Hopefully they saved and invested well throughout their careers because these 3 are unhireable.

this place is finished. Do not focus anymore time working for this dumpster fire. Immediately start pursuing an exit strategy. Otherwise you will end up completely screwed

Why not simply man-up here. It is common knowledge Shire is bleeding talent, that FO is a nightmare to work with, that there's no capable leadership from his cronies, that Perry is a simpleton, and that anyone who can escape this disaster is doing it unless they simply sit in the car and avoid notice. There's no dispute about any of this. So why not take off and stop whining, or enjoy the incredibly inept management we have and focus on our second jobs? I don't care about the stock - it Ferris B's day off for us!!!! I LOVE IT!
