So our CFO quit

The market clearly isn't happy with the CFOs departure, especially since it's obvious he didn't go to a bigger job. It is yet another indication that the fish is rotting from the head. And we couldn't even recruit a top-notch external HR candidate. Just another Flembot to follow orders.

That's a good point. We should be hiring ONLY people from outside the company at this point. I'm surprised our CFO was able to get another job with Shire on his resume.

WRONG!! Our CFO left due to FAMILY considerations NOT business. You sales reps are beyond belief in your mudslinging and false speculations!! Maybe, you should try doing your job and SELL our products. We in the home office just laugh at your pitiful posts!

Maybe if you asshats IN HOME OFFICE did your jobs instead of being on CP we'd have the coverage and the resources to do our job well! Now get back to work desk monkey!

I am in the home office in global and I am not laughing. People's concerns should not be mocked, nor should they be told to not bother their heads about the CFO leaving and just sell. It is a big deal to have a CFO leave, especially as it was sudden and there is no new CFO in the wings on tap. The company can and will manage through a CFO change- but deriding the sales force for voicing reasonable concerns is sure not helping to lead through it.

Well let's see here, Fleming's email today said he is going to Indigo AG Inc, a start up company based in Boston. Does his family run Indigo AG, Inc?

NOTHING ABOUT FAMILY CONSIDERATIONS. Liar. And trust us, we in sales feel the same way about you losers inside.

Really quite pathetic. Poulton did an interview with Credit Suisse where he states he wanted to go to a start-up. Anyone who can actually read will have seen it posted and published. This post regarding "family" is an out and out lie and a good example of the inferior talent that defends FO and his "leadership." The other point well made is that investors called BS and punished the stock.

CFO did leave for family reasons! Upside $ opportunity to support his family.

Joining a startup is a lottery ticket. Yeah it might payoff but in all likelihood a well-run Fortune 500 is the better bet. CFO must know Shire is screwed otherwise it makes no sense hence the markets reaction to the news.

Lottery ticket?? The guy was CFO/board member of a multi billion dollar pharma company. How much more $ could he possibly get/need?

The guy wanted out, plain and simple. No different than a Rep not being fulfilled and going to another company. Just that there are more zeros on his paycheck.

I hope he gave accurate feedback on his "engagement survey" before he left.

Senior leaders often leave for entrepreneurial opportunities after they made a sizable amount of money in an established company. The CFO leaving Shire is no big deal! I agree with the poster that the sales force should just concentrate on their job of selling. My God it is none of their business who leaves and who comes on board!

I believe the same person who said focus on selling also, tried say he left for family reasons. The lying and attmpted spin from HQ is nauseating.

And wrong. We are all shareholders in this company so it is everyone's business when a predominant member of the executive leadership team announces he is leaving for another position. The same way there are articles on it in news wire and business journals. It is investor business.
